Something very strange has just happened - I have to go to the police & make a statement

Ds (12yrs) & his friend have just come in from out playing & told me my nasty neighbour (next door) has just been talking to a man and this man has taken my car registration number Shock then both men shook hands , laughed & the man left in his car . We have history of abuse & property damage from next door . I rang my local police station for advice and they want me to drop into them to make a statement as i asked them not to send a car to my house as i don't want to make things worse by alerting next door . Sad

That's extremely strange and you did the best thing informing the police. That means if anyone tries to shop you as a hit and run or something similar they know that where it's started from.

Dh is in work & dd has just broke out this morning with chicken pox . I have to go to the station in the morning to have this put on report . Sad

Ds saw this man get out of his car & knock into my neighbour , then both men walked to the back of my car (parked outside my house on the roadside) & this man pulled a notepad out of his jacket pocket & wrote down my registration number .

Good that the police are taking this seriously enough to put on record.

Thanks TeamLemon . Been up all night trying to cool her down her temperature is still very high . This is the last thing i need today tbh .

OP i honestly aren't accusing your son of lying but prehaps a overactive imagination. If anybody was intending you harm or distress do you really think they would behave like that in full view and in broad daylight

At the very worse they are are a pair of creeps play at 'winding you up' not nice and I wouldn't like it but please don't let it distress you.

someone said further down, they might be planning to report the OP as a hit and run. Otherwise no idea what the plan is, car sighted at some crime scene, break-in or something. Weird. Glad the police took it seriously

beesimo When i rang dh he said the same as you that it could be just a "wind Up" as guy next door is a immature twat , but considering the history of abuse we have already suffered from them i rang the police just as a precautionary measure that way if anything does happen in the coming weeks i have this on record Sad .

I'd be really worried if this happened to me. What the hell does he want the number for and, if you were planning something, wouldn't you just tell someone the number over the phone?

Could your neighbour see the boys playing?

Def worth logging with the Police, maybe he is going to clone your plate?

Although it could also have been purely for your DS to see, as otherwise why would the neighbour not just have take the reg down from through his window or something so that you didn't know?

Ds & his friend were sitting in my porch playing on their PSP's so they would not have been very visible to neighbour (porch is brick up to 3 feet then glass on top of the brick) ds heard a car pull up & looked out as did his friend and they both saw this man write down my reg number .
Yes all discs are up to date etc .
Neighbour has made threats to us before (last June to be exact) when i had to call the police on them for damaging our property (we caught them on camera in the act) .

well frankly I cannot think of any harmless reason why they would get out and go over and look at the back of your car and write something down, especially with a history of neighbourhood animosity.

Hope nothing bad comes of it.

Perhaps your neighbour was pretending in front of your son to have called the police - friend role playing plain clothed detective - all in a cause to wind you up???? (the mind boggles)!!!

Whatever - its a weird (very) weird thing to do - no matter what the real reason is behind it. You have absolutely nothing to loose about getting this reported and down on record with the police. However, I am confused as to why YOU and not your son is making the statement. Who was with your son at the time? What are their version of events? I would be inclined to speak to them too.
