In the SM today was a photgrapher taking pics of children and parents with various Easter props.
We were waiting in the queue. The photographer took some lovely shots of two little girls and commented to the parents that one of the girls (about 5?) looked rather like Angelina Jolie- she had long dark hair and beautiful features. 'Yep' said her Dad ' She's going to have perfect blow job lips!' and they laughed.
I am still really unnerved. Was I B U and prudish?

Yes of course I would be prepared to go to Court and say what I heard. I thought about this when I reported it.
TBH I am a bit amazed at the attacks on me from a few as this incident upset me very much and I still can't stop thinking about it. I don't think- for what its worth that the man(Dad?) who said this really thought about his actions as he didn't seem the sharpest knife in the box. But even if this is true maybe if anything is said it will pull him up short.

Im not sure what they found amusing about such a sick and vile comment. I hate to think what other comments that poor child gets to hear?!

nijinsky · 11/04/2011 13:52

YANBU and thank you for doing something about it. For some reason, this remark has stuck in my mind and really disturbed me. The father just sounds a total, unthinking idiot, but that remark would have offended if it was made about an adult, never mind a child.

I twice witnessed behaviour which made me worry for the safety of children. The first time I did nothing (I was on my own sitting in my car in a car park, the only other car contained two adults and a child of school age but not at school and there just something that disturbed me although they were doing nothing but looking impatient that I was there) and another when I did - I saw a man acting suspiciously in a swimming pool, reported him to the manager and was disbelieved and threatened with the police. 6 weeks later it was found at the same pool that a man was filming children changing through holes drilled in changing cubicles, remarkably he ran out, escaped in his car and no-one got his registration number.

Completely different incidents but I still think about that child in that car.

Kitsichick · 11/04/2011 16:38

Good for you Nijinsky, for the children if there is any doubt my gut feel is one has to do something but that excludes 'lamping' and 'spitting' . Honestly if you saw me you could not think of two behaviours I would be less likely to display.

Toddlerama, I also heard a mum describe her boy as having "come to bed eyes"... ick.

Herthatwas · 23/04/2011 17:24

Thought I would update you- apparently couple were questioned and are being investigated for something else related as well so all things conisidered I am glad I pursued it.

FriedEggyAndSlippery · 23/04/2011 17:28

Thanks for updating. Proof you weren't overreacting.

Sometimes it's not nice to be proven right is it :( poor child.

Well done though.

I missed this thread at the time.
Incidentally, its reminded me of a comment I've heard TWICE, each time by a mother, when she was changing her baby boys nappy and commented on how his size would "make some woman very happy one day". I was really shocked
By this and am now wondering whether I should have done something? This was a long time ago btw

Birdsgottafly · 23/04/2011 18:27

Herthatwas-you have been told by someone in authority that they are being investigated for something else? If so the police have broke confidentiality and there goes the case out of the window.

Herthatwas · 23/04/2011 18:40

No, not by the Police- the man is named in one of the local papers today as being charged with having pictures- and Violet Hill- how horrible of the mother who said that. I don't know if you should have done something or not. I know my stretegy from now on will be to say 'I think what you have just said is inappropriate in the extreme' and then brace myself to take the rap.
