It just makes me cringe. I have told him I don't like it.

i was prepared to go with the "baby" thing if it was an occasional thing, but the text made me feel all, um, er, like i'd just been "slimed" and not in a good way. very used car salesman - esque. get rid and move on to the next hot guy in line.

YANBU... But then I hate pet names. That's probably down to the fact that the ex (DS's dad) refused to use my name for most of the time we were together. But even now, I hate being called anything other than my name. The exceptions stand for my closest mates who will ooccassionaly great me with a jokey insult, but that's an old ritual which goes back years. The "hun", "honey", "gorgeous" (etc) stuff makes me cringe.

just making vomiting noises whenever he does it. That should get the message across...

My friend is married to a French guy who calls her baby but in a gorgeous, sexy French accent. Makes me go quite weak at the knees Grin

DP calls me 'sweetheart' which I like Blush. When we first started 'going out' (in the days before texts and the interweb) he sent me a letter which started out with the 'big bang' and ended with the assimilation of atoms that created me!!

We still re-read that one and chuckle!!!

My dh calls me Babe.
Not bothered.
Each to their own though!
Pretty petty reason to dump him though imo.

I have had this on-off long distance telephone sex 'relationship' with this guy for about 3 years now. He calls me baby, it makes me melt. I love it.
