AIBU to think that the 'dog' in Covent Garden is really a 'dirty dog'?

Has anyone seen the 'dog' in CG that stands alongside the statues? I think he is absolutely disgusting. I saw him last year when I was taking a friend visiting England around London. He made the most vile comment to her. I saw him again today and he makes me feel physically sick.

Perhaps he is your DH? Perhaps he is someone you love. Please shed some light, but before you do, please pass the bucket!!

Squeak your toy, Squeakytoy! Wink Tbh, as I said, it isn't even about what happened, just what other ppl think of him...that is all I want to know. And so far, only a handful of ppl have commented on their experiences of dirty dog.

Can you only post on this thread if you have seen him then? Gosh, I had no idea. Now you're sounding a bit bossy as well.

squeakytoy · 02/04/2011 22:54

Yes Bex, and I was one of them. I have a photo of him too somewhere Grin

And as I said, I dont find him offensive.

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 22:57

Oh Blackcoffee, really that does not shock me. Just googled it. I think the only thing that shocks me is that I didn't know what it meant!! I am open minded and had I been with friends and seen dirty dog, I would probably have even encouraged him but because I was with DD, I think I became over sensitive Mummy!

Have I really become anally retentive Mummy??? I am SO not the woman I used to be.

Coincidently I saw this dog man for the first time today, and thought the concept was amusing, as did the children I was with. TBH I couldn't make out a word he was saying, apart from some comment about 'Berlusconi' to a passing Italian. Maybe he is a bit risque or fond of the double-entendre, but so are pantomimes Hmm.

Total over-reaction IMO.

alistron1 · 02/04/2011 23:02

The only thing I find offensive about this thread is the constant contraction of the word 'people' to 'ppl'.

FGS, if you are going to make multiple posts then it's not too much to ask to add a few fecking vowels!!!

catchmeifyoucan · 02/04/2011 23:04

So ummmm - OP - can we just clear up who was mortally offended by this 'act'? Was it you? Your Thai friend (like they know nothing of smut ffs!!!) or your DD? All or none? Some? Do enlighten us!

Blackcoffeeandcigarettes · 02/04/2011 23:07

So a close up or a rancid fanny does not offend you but a man dressed as a dog saying lick me does. I give up

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 23:14

No! You are getting me all wrong. Of course you can comment, free speech and all that. But I just wanted to hear what people thought of him that have encountered him.

Like I said, if I had seen him on my own or without kids, then I may well have thought him funny too. But he did make me feel creepy, he certainly offended my friend and I didn't like what he was saying with my DD present. Even if she didn't understand.

Oh dear, I am sounding precious and anal.

Tell me Blackcoffee, you ever seen a blue waffle? And was it a result of too much dragon butter leading to other things??

To clear this up: the op was to ask if anyone had seen him and what they thought - everything else derived from purile, nosy questioning.

All I wanted to know was what other PPL thought of him. Period. End of. It has all got a bit too involved, a bit too personal and bit too much.

PPL, PPL, PPL! Who needs vowels?!

I've never seen him either, I based my comment on the youtube video Confused

onlion · 03/04/2011 10:00

I would have complained about racism tbh

onlion · 03/04/2011 10:06

can someone clear up for those of us who have never been to or have no clue about covent garden...is this a place where there is a lot of?performing art?

nikkiiii · 03/04/2011 10:11

My three year old had a phase where he liked putting 20p in his bowl if we saw him. The 'dog' was always quite civil and appropriate to him. I would suspect with the crowds of people that gather round him his vision is quite limited unless you're quite close.

O M G
Mothers day is rubbish.
This thread is brilliant.
Beyond mad.

Thank you. I am actually laughing - on Mothers Day.

squeakytoy · 03/04/2011 10:12

onlion · 03/04/2011 10:13

squeakytoy · 03/04/2011 10:16

Onlion, my reply was to you, yes there are a lot of performers in Covent Garden, moreso at the weekends.

onlion · 03/04/2011 10:47

For some reason I thought it was a flower market

SarahStrattonHasNiceBears · 03/04/2011 11:29

FFS is that it [massive disappointment]

This is the home of bumsex and dragon butter. You'll have to do better than that for shock value.
