AIBU to think that the 'dog' in Covent Garden is really a 'dirty dog'?

Has anyone seen the 'dog' in CG that stands alongside the statues? I think he is absolutely disgusting. I saw him last year when I was taking a friend visiting England around London. He made the most vile comment to her. I saw him again today and he makes me feel physically sick.

Perhaps he is your DH? Perhaps he is someone you love. Please shed some light, but before you do, please pass the bucket!!

Is he a homeless person? Or a performance artist? I haven't lived in London for a while Blush

Oh, just Googled. Clearly a performance artist. Therefore I suppose free speech applies. But it's not right if he is making upsetting comments.

0891 · 02/04/2011 19:51
Confused
Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 19:55

Mandy!!! Homeless? That is an awful comment! No, not homeless! He is a performer (can't bring myself to say artist!) and he is just wrong, all wrong.

I knew someone would ask! I am not going to repeat on here - not palatable. It was a long time ago but he offended my friend and my DD just cried - as she did today too Sad

Well it's hard to judge if YABU or not if you don't tell us what he said. I've never heard of him before so don't know his act.

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 20:17

Gwendoline - Am only really interested in the comments of ppl that may have seen him and know who he is. I want first hand encounters. That is why in my original post, I ask the question, "has anyone seen..."

I have seen him plenty of times, and never heard him say anything offensive, so you really do have to tell us what he said, because it is quite possible that you misheard or misunderstood it.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 02/04/2011 20:22

Pardon me Hmm

gateacre1 · 02/04/2011 20:23

He was chatting up one of the mums last sunday! my dd was terrified of him!!

psiloveyou · 02/04/2011 20:25

I saw him recently and now have his picture as my facebook profile pic. [shame]

He didn't say anything to us.

Is anyone else dying to know what he said?.

psiloveyou · 02/04/2011 20:25

Lol Blush

and again for the error Blush

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 20:26

Sorry, I re-read my post and it looks like I am being rude. That wasn't the intention. I am just intrigued to know what others' views are of him that have seen him. I don't want to go into the whole story of what he originally said because he was very rude and he did offend my friend. I (as my friend) did not mishear or misunderstand what he said, btw.

squeakytoy · 02/04/2011 20:27

Well based on the fact that you cant "bring yourself to type the offensive words", yes, you are being unreasonable. :)

noddyholder · 02/04/2011 20:28

The times we have seen him he has been very funny and more satirical than crude

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 20:29

Gate, my DD cried and cried! I just took her away from him and didn't discuss what he said in front of her so as not to make her more upset. I don't like him. Simple really.

Oh no, PS, you have him as your profile pic? He actually looks like he is going to be funny. Just not for me.

If your friend was so upset last time, why did you take your daughter near him today then? Confused

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 02/04/2011 20:32

Never seen him but based on that Youtube clip he's a bit creepy - reminds me of that hideous 'bear' thing on Bo Selecta.

Come on OP, we're tough old birds - I'm sure we won't swoon at what he said :)

sharbie · 02/04/2011 20:33

you can hear him say something on you tube - bit yuk and then he winks

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 20:34

Squeaky, you have mis-quoted me - I didn't say what you have quoted.

Noddy, interesting to hear your views. I knew there would be ppl that were amused by him. He gives me the creeps though - even aside from what he said. And he made my DD cry...twice!

nikki1978 · 02/04/2011 20:35

I think he is really funny! Bit cheeky but very funny. Told some bloke he looked like Nick Griffin Grin

Don't be a misery guts. If your child doesn't like him don't go near him. Seems simple enough to me.

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 20:40

Sqeaky, you are right and making me think about it. I saw him last year when my friend was over visiting England. That time my DD cried - tbh, she wouldn't have understood what he said, so her crying was obviously based on her 'feeling' at that time. It's been over a year and I thought perhaps because she is older she wouldn't have the same fear. Also, there isn't really any getting away from the performers as you walk down to Covent Garden. I pointed him out to my friend that was with us today but immediately, my DD started to cry so we didn't stop and I just walked by. My friend didn't like him on sight and I decided then to put this thread out on here this evening. Curious to other reactions, so thanks for comments everyone.
