AIBU to think that the 'dog' in Covent Garden is really a 'dirty dog'?

Has anyone seen the 'dog' in CG that stands alongside the statues? I think he is absolutely disgusting. I saw him last year when I was taking a friend visiting England around London. He made the most vile comment to her. I saw him again today and he makes me feel physically sick.

Perhaps he is your DH? Perhaps he is someone you love. Please shed some light, but before you do, please pass the bucket!!

Oh Nikki, you are so right. When I saw him last year, I thought he was a little funny so that is why I stopped to listen to him some more. My friend wasn't keen (she didn't like him) but I made her stay around a bit more. My DD was getting a little uncomfrotable and squirming and saying he was "not a nice dog". BUT, then it all changed and he made THE comment, at which time my DD also started crying. My friend and I were so disgusted we just walked away. Check out my other post as to why I was there today.

Was it a sexual comment? If so I would have gone to a policeman. He could be a pervert in the giuse of a performer....he certainly isn't very professional in that clip!

Skinit · 02/04/2011 20:55

Or was it a violent comment? Threatning?

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 21:11

Funny, I didn't think my op would generate any responses!

Skinit, he made sexual comments - please note the plural use!! Very mild (perhaps more inuendos) at first and that is what my friend objected to (can't blame her) but he's final comment was plain dirty for a so called performer to be saying especially with kids around.

Why did you not take it further ie police or council street performer dept?
You still can complain, you know if what he said was really not on.

LynetteScavo · 02/04/2011 21:25

Look, I need to know what he said!

Oh come on! You must tell us. I just read this whole thread in anticipation that you would have come around to telling us! Please!

That aside, from the clip, its a bit of a farce of a performer. Don't you have to audition to be a street performer in CG? Its just awful, not even done very well, the get-up and sign and all. Just so incredibly shoddy.

But you must tell us.

squeakytoy · 02/04/2011 21:44

"Very mild (perhaps more inuendos) at first and that is what my friend objected to (can't blame her)"

So he made VERY mild innuendo and your friend got all upset??? She sounds a tad over-sensitive to me.

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 21:46

You know what, what I REALLY would love right now is for 'dog's' DP to see this thread and comment - that would just top it all! Wink

Errrmmmmm, as for divulging comment - it really isn't the place! And yes, have thought about complaining to council but that is why posted on here to see if I am being AIBU! Perhaps I have just turned into a right old prude!!

Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 21:48

AT FIRST, Squeaky - you REALLY must read my posts...yawn...

OP posts:
Bexstar5 · 02/04/2011 21:52

If ppl aren't going to read posts properly, why comment? Just makes post pathetic really.

OP posts:
catchmeifyoucan · 02/04/2011 21:57

I think what he said to you must have been so very very much of a non-event that you're probably feeling a bit silly now and that's why you can't tell. Your 'friend' sounds terribly precious. Are you sure any of you are ready for the outside world?

squeakytoy · 02/04/2011 21:58

I am reading your posts Bex, but as you cant be bothered to tell us what was actually said, its fairly obvious that the comment was probably not all that offensive..

GotArt · 02/04/2011 22:00

Come on Bexstar5! Spill it! Grin

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 02/04/2011 22:02

Oh FFS Bex, spit it out and stop milking the situation.

If you don't say what was so incredibly offensive then people are going to think you are one of those miserable old catsarse-mouthed biddies.

mosschops30 · 02/04/2011 22:03

Oh my god what a pathetic drip feeding thread, why ask if AIBU if youre not going to tell us what he said.
On a site that deals with everything from major surgery to racism to bum sex i doubt you could shock many of us tbh.

howlonguntiltheweekend · 02/04/2011 22:03

Please tell us.

catchmeifyoucan · 02/04/2011 22:05

GodfreysPrivates - that may very well be the funniest thing I've read on here. Ever.

theyoungvisiter · 02/04/2011 22:07

Yes I agree - you can't start a thread impugning someone's professionalism but refusing to say what actually happened.

And if the comment was so vile then why start a thread when clearly everyone was going to be begging you to repeat said comment? This is just playground nasty whispers - either say what you've got to say, or stop needling.

Blackcoffeeandcigarettes · 02/04/2011 22:08

Bexstar5, your not coming across well here. A bit precious. I'm sure you don't mean to be. I have no idea what your on about, but if it upset you and no one else, maybe it's not the "artist"

pinksmarties · 02/04/2011 22:12

I've seen him a few times and I do think that the concept and illusion of a dog in a dog basket is brilliant although it could really freak a young (under 5) child out. I must admit that he is very cutting with his remarks and extreamley tactless. He said I looked like someone, can't remember who it was but I remember not quite knowing whether to be pleased or insulted.

I think it's because he can't move and he's very low down that he just does it to get people's attention, and it works. I've heard him being a bit rude/cutting to people. He is very funny but probably does cross the line, a lot of non English speaking people won't realise they're being insulted Grin

FudgeGirl · 02/04/2011 22:12

Oh FFS. How pathetic. Unless he asked you for bumsex in the middle of the street, you need to get a grip.

Here, have a dog Biscuit

BertieBotts · 02/04/2011 22:15

I think it's a bit creepy as well! I'm sure he's very funny/a perfectly nice person (or not in the OP's opinion, clearly) but it's the disembodied head in a box thing that creeps me out slightly.
