AIBU to have been inspired in some way by the "stars" of the only way is essex

Not how you might think. These people are shallow, dreadful and rather unintelligent, yet fascinating.

Inspired how? After years of being a frumpy mum who never does anything for or to herself, Ive been watching these people who are so self obessed and realised maybe I should do a little something for me.

Sure they dont have children or responsibilties other than the pursuit of their "beauty" but maybe we should all have a little bit of that, just something we do regularly whether it be the beautician or the gym or even just go that extra mile with grooming.

Im off for a spray tan and vajazzle.

Don't give a flying fook about how awful they are - this show is TV gold. Their utter idiocy gives me a renewed sense of purpose and vigour in life. I feel like Einstein compared to them. Let me know if the vajazzle hurts or not

Love Joey Essex's hair. Love the girls making arses of themselves on national tv over loser blokes.

Please no one shatter my dreams and say they aren't like this in real-life! Anyone know them?

This has recently become my guilty secret, seriously its the best comedy on at the moment ! That Joey Essex looked like he was on drugs judging by his eyes surely no one is so dumb they don't know who the PM is? !!

As an older M's netter,my shameful indulgence is Real Housewives of Orange County at 3.40pm ITV 2.Those women are awfull but somehow I am mesmorrised.

I live in Essex but I'm an immigrant. however, I'm assured by a friend that they are very probably like that. He didn't know them personally though.

Given what some people around here are like, I don't think they're too exaggerated.

I loved the two girls chatting who didn't know if Kent was in South London or not.

I forced myself to watch it just to see what all the fuss was about and OMG what a bunch of tossers. It's totally edited for tv though which makes it worse

maras I have to admit to watching Real Housewives too. What a load of two faced bitches they are. I love it!

creaseistheword, I've never seen the show, but I totally get how it has inspired you to take better care of yourself and I think that's really good. There's nothing like a spray tan to perk you up. I would draw the line at vajazzling, but that is because I don't like the look of my genitals, so try to cover them up

I'm an Essex girl by birth only! I love it, so tacky. Especially the "Playboy" model with the massive veneers on her front teeth hiding rotten teeth behind - she looks like a cross between Kelly Brook and Janet Street-Porter.

Struggling here to understand the attraction of Mark "Tango" Wright, though. That big fat orange face leering at me would put me off my breakfast.

DH hates it, especially when they do that "shu' up!" thing.

I watched this last week for the first time. I have met a few people like this in my time so would not be surprised if they are like that tbh. That bloke Mark is a twat isn't he? They are all so stupid that I find it difficult to watch.

The girl with the pig looks like she has had a stroke. Have they all had cosmetic surgery?

Yes they are shallow, dim, vain and all the rest...but entertaining nevertheless.

Am wondering if Kirk or his Dad will end up with Chloe...
Love Amy's giggle (makes me laugh every time), Arg seems a big softie...and Mark??? Is he the only single bloke in Essex? (you would think so).

Why oh why do those girls fall for him....beggars belief!

Can't wait for the next episode...and hubs is now into it too!

I've never managed to watch it but I do read Heat magazine so that's almost the same - pages and pages are devoted to the Essex bods and they are fascinating in a weird sort of way.

And yes, you're right - if making yourself a bit prettier/more glamorous/more stylish makes you feel better about yourself, then do it. I look like a shower of shite without makeup, and that makes me feel like a shower of shite - hence I wear makeup. I'm saving up the vajazzle for when times are really bad.

worked with woman from essex who called me jock when she thought i wasnt listening and she went on about me and forriners "stealing ingerlish people's jobs". not a great introduction to essex but was v funny in a bizarre way. pc to her was the computer which she couldnt work but wouldnt call IT as they was all forrin too innit

I know just what you mean, it is awful but I love it dh doesn't understand what I see In it . It does make
me want to take more care of myself I see them looking so groomed and have felt so frumpy recently. The show makes me want to put on a bit slap and dress nice .

You're not alone! DH's Dad and SM live in Chigwell and are normal (neither of them are originally from Essex, however...), it's not just you! I used to go drinking in that pub that Mark Wright turned into a tackhole lounge, it used to have good pool tables!

We were taken aback at the weekend by a beauty parlour in nearby South Woodford offering vajazzling on it's ad board - bling up your vajayjay was the slogan...

The programme itself annoys me, being neither Arthur nor Martha - it's not a soap, it's not a proper reality show, they're all so self-conscious of being filmed... grrr. But I do enjoy laughing at them :o

I personally wouldn't bother with a Vajazzle...

Not convinced the crystals would last long...that the glue wouldn't come un-stuck after a bath/shower.

Otherwise a fun thing to have done for a beach/clubbing holiday (I'd have thought!).
