AIBU to think that obese people should be extra careful on moving buses?

I had an obese mum land her entire body weight on my right knee yesterday as the bus we were travelling on jolted forwards - I was already sitting with ds, she had just got on with her husband and toddler. She apologised and even gave my knee a quick pat.

I woke up in pain today. There were plenty of handles to hold onto (it was a very modern bus) and def not overcrowded. I had intended to run many important errands today though I cannot do this anymore as it would be too painful. I am fuming.

Obese + clumsy = do not travel by bus ??

SDTG would you want anything to do with someone who likes people to know she used to be insanely beautiful?
Insane, I will give her :o

StealthPolarBear · 31/03/2011 10:46

no flippin, people are angry at the OP because of the stereotypes she uses to describe another human
She comes across as someone who judges based solely on appearance
I am sorry she has been injured but it seems this thread was to share her scorn of fatties

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 31/03/2011 10:47

Lol - you are spot on, Stealth!

marmaladetwatkins · 31/03/2011 10:49

To be honest, I think she got people's back up with her overall attitude. It's a bit presumptious to assume that people have lashed out because people feel shit about themselves Hmm

I am so beautiful that I cause traffic accidents and she got MY back up.

PaulaHamilton · 31/03/2011 10:49

YABU to just apply your rule to the obese. I think EVERYONE should be a bit more careful on buses. I can't count the amount of times my children and I have been squashed and knocked by people of various shapes and sizes on buses.

StealthPolarBear · 31/03/2011 10:51

:) marmalade
So do i
(but that's bad driving rather than stunning beauty)

My personal bugbear on public transport are people who forget they have a bag on their shoulder the size of a small child. They forget it extends another foot or so from the side of their body. All sorts of people fat, thin, Chinese, Japanese, Black, White, young, old. I had my head whacked on the train this morning, by someone walking up the carriage, swinging a bag the size of a suitcase - ouch. I was too busy picking my head up from the floor to make mental notes of what they looked like!

Whatever you do 'StayingDavidTennantsGirl, please do not fall on me!!!

TheEarthIsFlat · 31/03/2011 11:55

Tall people should be banned too. They have a lot further to fall so pick up more speed (velocity, force?).

marmaladetwatkins · 31/03/2011 12:22

I would rather have a chubby fall on me than a skinny person. I imagine the fat person would be nicely cushioned and deal out a softer landing, like having a big, squishy pillow falling on you.

The posts on her husband having affairs it too far IMO not nice :(

but overall this thread has been good fun, The posters are objecting to her comments about her looks because they do not appear light or confident
every comment has been purely based on looks and stereotypes based on those looks.

marmaladetwatkins · 31/03/2011 16:06

Nah it's not too far. If you can dish shit out, you can take shit back.

ladymystikal · 31/03/2011 16:07

wooow. there are some real bitchy comments on here. affairs and cheating arnt to be made light of or something to throw in someones face

marmaladetwatkins · 31/03/2011 16:24

Sigh.

I thought that maybe, just maybe, it might teach the delightful OP some stuff about assuming things about people from what they see on the surface.

Assuming people are lacking in self-esteem/happiness because they are fat = not nice.

Assuming someone's DH is boffing other because they are a twat = not nice either.

Still. She's hardly a wallflower. I maintain that it will bounce right off her.

I strongly agree with the sentiment 'don't give what you can't take' but affairs are an area that is quite sensitive on here.

I've really enjoyed see her railroaded back into place. Grin
bringing ethnicity etc into was [hmmm]
