Or, am I simply being grumpy and maybe even, middle-aged?

I just can't force myself to wade down endless paragraph-free text, however gripping, relevant or interesting the title might have been.

No, YANBU at all.
Kreecher 46 and 10 months.
What is MAS?

CadleCrap · 25/03/2011 08:14

YANBU
CadleCrap - desperately clinging on to her 30's by bloody and sore finger nails

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 25/03/2011 08:15

No, YANBU.

What is MAS, then?

Slightly (51 and one month)

MinnieBar · 25/03/2011 08:16

YANBU hunny xx

MinnieBar · 25/03/2011 08:18

It's most insidious in the comments on the FB feed. I genuinely cannot understand WTF some of them are saying.

Yes, I am judging. Don't care.

bigbeagleeyes · 25/03/2011 08:25

I can't stand no paragraphs either, I just can't even read the thread which is a shame as the poster may have interesting things to say. Lack of any punctuation bugs me too, but spelling and punctuation mistakes don't.
I just need to be able to read the post easily really.
I'm 54 and a half.

catchmeifyoucan · 25/03/2011 08:30

Of a similar age and I cannot, simply cannot, bear the endless spelling misconceptions. Councillor/Counsellor is the one that brings the red mist! And text speak of any form - it's just plain lazy and forgiveable (just!) only in the pre-teens.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 25/03/2011 08:39

middle aged snort?

40 and a fortnight.

Psammead · 25/03/2011 08:44

Missing A Signature?

I don't mind so much about short posts not being paragraphed, but long posts with no line break are tiresome.

YANBU.

LaWeasel · 25/03/2011 08:58

They have changed the fb comments settings so you can't write in paragraphs anymore.

Weasy 23 and 11 months.

Bucharest · 25/03/2011 09:02

Gah, it's dumbing down by stealth.
I'm being made to look thickinnit.
I just hit enter and then start again, harumphing and chuntering as I go.

Skinit · 25/03/2011 09:06

Lol...i dunno. Horses for courses innit? Each 2 there own.

Sorry. I couldn't help it. If it's any comfort, not all young people are guilty of it. Some make a point of spelling properly.

BUt YANBU anyway.

Skinit

squeakytoy · 25/03/2011 09:16

LaWeasel, you can still do paragraphs on the FB comments. You need to press shift and enter to do it. :)

LaWeasel · 25/03/2011 10:38

Oh excellent! That was really annoying me, thanks.

piprabbit · 25/03/2011 10:41

Mine's a short.

FlorenceCalamityandJoanofArc · 25/03/2011 10:48

My MIL sends me txts tht lk lik dis n't meks m'ed hurt. It's not just an age thing, she's 60 I'm 30.

No paragraphs, I'm not reading that block of shit, no matter whats inside. Text speak too, if you can't be bothered writing it properly then I can't be bothered reading it.

BellaMagnificat · 25/03/2011 11:44

MAS is a campaign against LOL.

Mildly Amused Smirk.

Am channelling Victor Meldrew today and have just thought of others.

'On the weekend' , 'at mine' and 'on a night out.'

Rather than 'I'll see you at the weekend, and we'll meet at my house for a night out.'

Another one for the club although I've always had a problem with poor spelling, grammar and text layout.

I really can't be doin' with people who don't punctuate. It's like reading a stream of consciousness thing and it's quite hard to make sense of. So I don't bother.

Do I have to be middle-aged though? I've just been saying on the thread about it that it's a state of mind and I don't feel it, despite some rudesby saying it's a "fact" of life once you're past 40 (they still haven't replied to my perfectly reasonable question as to whether or not they themselves have passed 40 - betting they haven't!)

Hell No, YANBU. It HURTS to read!

Txtspk is banned on my (yet to be acquired) island sanctuary. Men free, except when needed, light-bulbs, spiders, rubbish, ahem duties Grin then they shipped back to the mainland.

Even on twitter I can communicate without resorting to dis and dat... There is no excuse at all.

thumbwitch · 25/03/2011 12:01

LMHF - you are banned for not revealing some approximation of your age, woman! Grin
