Or, am I simply being grumpy and maybe even, middle-aged?

I just can't force myself to wade down endless paragraph-free text, however gripping, relevant or interesting the title might have been.

You are being petty, not everybody is really top notch in English, irrespective of how an OP is phrased, paragraphs or not they do not deserve slatting because the way in which they have set out their OP.

I frequently open a thread, see a wall of text, sigh and move on to the next one.

Actually no, we're not being petty at all, FabbyChic. Because if the OP wants lots of people to read their post, then they would do better to use paragraphs, punctuation etc. to make it legible - or most posters will do what Alibaba just said - sigh and move on.

It's in posters' own interest to make their post legible if they want answers.

"LaWeasel, you can still do paragraphs on the FB comments. You need to press shift and enter to do it."

Well, you learn something new everyday :)

It's offputting and hard work. Which is a shame because a lot of them could be extremely interesting and relevant.

and if MAS is for Mildly Amused Smirk, then I for one am very pleased to see it - LOL is allowed sometimes but PMSL and ROFL or whatever are just too extreme in my book!

Nearly 55, so does that make me the oldest to comment so far? :)

ThistleDoNicely · 25/03/2011 12:53

LOL at MAS Wink

I can't stand txt spk or lack of paragraphs either. Missplaced appostrophe's and random Capital letters also irritate me no end.
