No, what's your problem with it, apart from it being a horrible looking doll?

But then don't listen to me, I breastfeed a 2-1/2 year old and I'm 5 months pregnant.

I've already gone far, far, too far :)

TattyDevine · 23/03/2011 20:35

Why is it too much? Too far? Can you clarify what makes you uncomfortable?

Rowan49 · 23/03/2011 20:35

There are one or two things which make me feel uncomfortable about breastfeeding to be honest but I think this is quite cute?

Milliways · 23/03/2011 20:36

Oh dear!

(and I thought this would be about breastfeeding beyond X years :) )

Booandpops · 23/03/2011 20:36

Hmmmmm a little odd IMO but my dd has been known to hold dollies to her chest and say she is feeding baby so I guess to a child it's fine. Just may be a bit alien to some of the adult population. (I also ff her younger brother so she wasn't even copying me.)

jaggythistle · 23/03/2011 20:37

YABU

Why should all dolls have bottles when BF is the normal way to feed babies?

There are pictures of me with my stuffed rabbit up my t-shirt 'feeding' it while I watched my Mum feeding my baby sibling, it's normal to copy what happens with your baby brother/sister and want to 'look after' a doll.

otchayaniye · 23/03/2011 20:37

Rowan, out of interest and I don't intend any criticism at all, but what makes you uncomfortable?

Happymm · 23/03/2011 20:37

Shock though to be fair, my DD did used to pretend to bf her "baby" as I fed her brother! Suspect this is a step too far, :)

jaggythistle · 23/03/2011 20:38

I meant normal as in not a weird thing to do - looks wriong on reading it back!

washnomore · 23/03/2011 20:38

Why's that any "worse" than a baby doll with a bottle? Hmm

wobblypig · 23/03/2011 20:38

Not sure - I have always felt uncomfortable that all dolls are fed with bottles. My DS brings me toys and dolls and pulls up my top pressing them to my boob asking me to feed them. She thinks it is clearly the way a mummy shows her love and feeds her baby. So I suppose this is the next logical step. Can't see the harm but won't be buying one myself.

EmmaBemma · 23/03/2011 20:38

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong about a baby doll that breastfeeds? My older daughter was three when her sister was born, and often used to pretend to breastfeed her teddies before wrapping them in a muslin and putting down to sleep in a shoebox. I thought it was cute and lovely, not remotely weird.

chicletteeth · 23/03/2011 20:38

I've breastfed all three of mine for a year, a year and 14 months respectively. The next oldest one each time, walked around doing this with their teddies; they're all boys!
Just to give you some perspective really!

jaggythistle · 23/03/2011 20:38

wrong FFS

Cher87 · 23/03/2011 20:39

I am all for breast feeding, and think its the most natural thing in the world but this is just wrong! I cant even explain why! Confused

MotherNight · 23/03/2011 20:39

The thing I am Shock about is the price.

washnomore · 23/03/2011 20:39

Wow. You'd have a coronary if you saw my 3 year old son breastfeeding his toy lizard.

Rowan49 · 23/03/2011 20:40

otchayaniye, I'm really worried about offending ... I am totally in favour of breast feeding but I do feel a little bit uncomfortable about older children (I suppose over the age of about two and a half) being breastfed, I'm sorry if I offend someone, it's my issue I guess and I can't even explain why, just do.

x

PrinceRogersNelson · 23/03/2011 20:40

My DS breastfed his stuffed dog when I was breastfeeding his baby sister. Nothing whatsoever wrong with this doll IMO.

I would prefer this to a doll that comes with a bottle. Breastfeeding is more normal for my children and therefore what they would want to role play.

2cats2many · 23/03/2011 20:40

Nothing unusual about a child pretending to breast feed a doll (my son does it), but I suppose the tie-on nipples are a bit unnecessary.

missmakesstuff · 23/03/2011 20:41

I think dollies for little girls are a little bit bloody scary odd to begin with, dread the day that DD gets bought one, but this is no weirder than a dolly that poos, cries and gets fed with a bottle.

It will only help to normalise breastfeeding and thats got to be a good thing - as someone above said, children copy adults, there are much worse things to be copying.

Having said that the funny top with nipples that comes with it is hilarious, think I want one!

DramaInPyjamas · 23/03/2011 20:41

YABU. It's lovely.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 23/03/2011 20:41

Looks great just wish I'd come up with the idea , what exactly is wrong with it FFS

Voddy · 23/03/2011 20:42

(Admires Rowan49's braveness)
