You know that plastic thing that says do not remove if you want to return found in the gusset of swim suits?

I bought a swimsuit for my 8 week old from mothercare, and it had one!

Exactly what is it protecting the gusset from? Babies wear nappies. Babies don't have to worry about periods or discharge so surely the gusset of a swim suit is no different from any other item of baby clothes?

YANBU - how farking daft!? I owuld be tempted to remove it and try to return! Just for kicks like Grin

elphabadefiesgravity · 20/03/2011 20:52

YABU some peopple put swimsuits on babies without nappies on.

VajazzHands · 20/03/2011 21:01

erh - yes babys wear swim suits without nappies - otherwise the nappy gets wet, doesn't it?

Summerbird73 · 20/03/2011 21:05

ivykaty you can get swim nappies - yes they get wet but far better than an 8week old peeing and pooing in the pool!

VajazzHands · 20/03/2011 21:06

no you use a swim nappy (otherwise you'd have loads of floaters [grim emoticon], and if it had been worn -presumably in the pool you couldn't return it then anyway.

and the cossie gets a shit in it. Swim nappies Wink

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 20/03/2011 21:07

Ivy - babies wear swim nappies or they aren't allowed in the pool.

You take them swimming after their morning poo - no need to keep a nappy on the. I took my two dd's swimming when they where tiny and they never pooed in the pool and never pooed in their swimsuits either

ivykaty44 · 20/03/2011 21:09

Shock not allowed in the pool - who said?

VajazzHands · 20/03/2011 21:11

If your kids pooped on a schedule maybe..but never heard of that before!

Are you sure you didnt just have wet poos still? they'd probably disolve in the chlorine

The pools here don't allow babies in without a swim nappy either.

Op, YANBU. It is a bit daft really.

bringonthegoat · 20/03/2011 21:11

Morning poo!?! WTF? Some babies only do one poo a day? Where do I get me one of those???????

Am not so lucky here ivy - DD can poo up to 5 times a day - she did one in the bath on saturday morning!

RitaMorgan · 20/03/2011 21:11

Babies aren't allowed in our local pool without nappies on.

PurveyorOfWoo · 20/03/2011 21:12

A semi related question. Has anyone known a baby actually poo in a swim nappy? I was thinking this very thought whilst taking mine swimming today. Neither of them have ever poo'd in a swim nappy, but DS sure as hell pee'd in his today, the deadly shiver and lopsided grin gives it away every time (he did drink half the pool, so not surprising though)

Granted if you left them in the nappy all day (say at a beach or something) then they'd probably oblige Grin But I always assumed they were somehow able to control themselves in a pool situation. Some kind of life preservation perhaps - so as not to attract sharks or poo eating fish (or something) Grin

Mrsmackie · 20/03/2011 21:12

Most swimmming pools stipulate that babies must wear swimming nappies. Would always put mine in one - wouldn't want to risk her doing wee/poo in water.

RitaMorgan · 20/03/2011 21:13

Swim nappies don't hold wee anyway, only solids.

4FoxAche · 20/03/2011 21:13

You know, I used to take ds1 swimming every week for months and not once did he do a poo in his swim nappy. Funny that.

elphabadefiesgravity · 20/03/2011 21:14

My parents have a pool so we often tool the dc in without a nappy. Swim nappys don't contain everything anyway.

ivykaty44 · 20/03/2011 21:14

well things have changed then- but possibly the swim wear makers don't know jack shit just like me - totally unawear that you need poo catchers over your bum to take a dip

theunmentioned · 20/03/2011 21:14

ivykate seriously? no nappy on a baby? That is plain odd imo and also incerdibly trusting that your child will only poo on schedule.

Ewwwh Im going off public pools again...

Carrotsandcelery · 20/03/2011 21:15

Mine have pooed in swim nappies. Both of them. And the bath [grim] The swim nappy does its job but it is a bit of a nightmare changing their nappy afterwards tbh. Very messy, squishy, experience. Grin

PurveyorOfWoo · 20/03/2011 21:17

Some kids do poo to schedule. My DD did the morning poo thing - once a day like clockwork (sometimes left DP and I staring in horror at a brimful potty and a tiny little girl - she must have had hollow legs!)

DS on the other hand is an at least twice a day guy (sometimes 4 or 5). Still never poo'd in a swim nappy though.

ivykaty44 · 20/03/2011 21:18

dd2 is 12 - so we aren't talking about long ago, there where no floating poos in the pool theunmentioned.

Mine used to go red in the face before they did a poo, don't everyones do the red face? My mate told me about the red face - so I jsut thought every baby did red face means poo trick
