To think this is disgusting?!

I just asked DH to pop to the shop for a few things I'd forgotten to buy for dinner tonight. Also asked him to take out the bin as it was full and I was cooking.

He went out with the bins a few minutes ago and I remembered something I'd forgotten to ask him to get, so went to find him - and he's gone straight to the shop. Without coming back to wash his hands. It's not just me thinking that is absolutely disgusting, is it?!

Admittedly it's not as if our kitchen bin is particularly minging, and the way our waste goes he doesn't have to touch the lid of an outside bin at all - but I still think it's really nasty.

ginmakesitallok · 20/03/2011 17:51

Why does he need to wash his hands?? YABU

valiumredhead · 20/03/2011 17:51

Oh good grief , I was expecting something REALLY vile like you caught him eating his own bogeys or something!!!

littlepigshavebigears · 20/03/2011 17:52

I can't see the problem, tbh. You say yourself the bin isn't filthy and all he's had to touch is the bin bag, without coming into contact with anything inside it, so I can't see how he'd be covered with germs.

JaneS · 20/03/2011 17:53

Ok, looks like I'm alone on this one! Grin

I was just taught you wash your hands after dealing with stuff in the bin, especially if you're then going to prepare food. Weren't you?

feeblephoebe · 20/03/2011 17:53

some people just make you glad that you are you dont they :)

valiumredhead · 20/03/2011 17:53

OP why do YOU think that is so disgusting?

dementedma · 20/03/2011 17:53

bloody hell, good job you don't live in our house!

LaurieFairyCake · 20/03/2011 17:53

It's just you

Unless you sent him to buy an unwrapped cake

5Foot5 · 20/03/2011 17:54

Is this serious? Do you have OCD or some other obsessive thing about washing?

WriterofDreams · 20/03/2011 17:54

OMG he touched a bin liner and didn't wash his hands!! You're all going to die of lurgy!

Em YABU.

mickeyjohn · 20/03/2011 17:54

I do this! The bin bag is presumably tied? So he is not actually touching anything (GOD FORBID! FILTH!) and the food in the shop comes in packets generally anyway? Unless he is buying apples or something. YABU!!!

Bucharest · 20/03/2011 17:54

Have you especially minging bins LRD?

Dp had to wash his coat this morning after taking ours out....(my fault of course Hmm for not bagging gunk up satisfactorily)

JaneS · 20/03/2011 17:55

Ok, I get it, I get it! Sorry everyone.

valium - I was just taught you always wash your hands after dealing with the bin before you prepare food. Mind you, when I think about it, it is possible I am so disgusted because my mum is the least hygenic cook ever, and her bin was a smelly health hazard. Mine's not, so I'm probably being OTT.

colditz · 20/03/2011 17:55

Actually I'm with you, but then, despite being an utter slattern, I have Ishoos with bins.

Would it be rude to call you a loon LRD? Wink

JaneS · 20/03/2011 17:57

No, valium, it'd be justified. You wait until I have kids - I'll do the best PFB threads, promise.
