to call dh a dickhead?

DS2 has been off school today with a hacking cough and bad cold. A few hours ago he vomited copiously all over the living room - I am pretty sure it was "proper" vomiting rather than just brought on by the cough. It smelled like hell.

I explained to ds2 that he can't have any dinner tonight, only water, because we don't want to feed the bugs in his tummy and make him poorly for longer. He had a little cry and said he was hungry to which I gave much sympathy and cuddles, and he accepted it. DH and I had spoken and agreed that he couldn't have anything.

dh is in the kitchen making food for ds1. DS2 just came to me with a half-finished smoothie with the straw popped out, asking me to put it back in for him. Apparently dh said he could have it.

Dickhead! AIBU?

I doubt he has a stomach bug. I have had a cough so bad that in the end I have vomited, and if you have eaten prior to that, then it will be "proper sick"..

If he is hungry, let him eat. :)

I understand that the advice these days is a BRAT diet- bananas, rice, apples, toast, no need to withold food.

I think I've worked out what it is. I'm watching Professor Brian Cox. His voice has sort of hypnotised me, and I'm thinking about dying stars and the futility of existence. That, on top of the diarrhoea, and I've gone a bit 'depressed hippy'...

I've been going around with a face like this for weeks now over all the 'Brian Cox does it for me posts' thinking they really need to get out more!!!

He blatantly thought it was a drink and not a 'food' drink. My husband would do the same.

Yanbu in my opinion, of course you shouldn't deny food when a kids hungry but toast and water is better than something laden with sugar. Sugar feeds the bacteria in the stomach and it'll take longer for kid to get better, making things all the more miserable for him.
