To be pissed off with neighbours and her fricking yappy dog

I have a friendly dopey dog who is kept at all times behind our gates or in the house when the gates are open
My neighbours has two dogs one of which is an aggressive little shit of a thing.

She will stand at my gates while her dog snaps and barks and growls at mine. I call my dog in but she just stands there.
When my dog is in my house because the gates are open she lets the lead extend so that her dog can come half way up the drive and pee.

Aibu to be getting increasingly fucked off.

3 of my immediate neighbours have dogs and I am fed up of being woken by their "darlings" incessant barking.

I think some dog owners just don't realise how annoying their pooches can be.

Barking dogs are one thing I can't stand - we've got horrible neighbours two doors away either side who used to let their dogs bark incessantly - one as early as 6am.

And none of the other neighbours would say anything to them, just kept moaning between themselves about it. So we have spoken to both sets of neighbours to talk about it and things are better.

You don't have to be rude, just next time you see her go out and say please keep your dog off my drive and please don't let your dog antagonise mine from the other side of my gate.

Yes, I am going to have to go around there aren't I.

But I really don't understand the mindset of someone who will just stand there while their dog makes the most god awful racket. She just stands there with dog still going nutty after I have called my dog in.

And surely letting your dog piss in someone elses front garden is a bit off Hmm

I could always let my dog out when the gates are open Grin
my dog does shits bigger than her dog

My next door neighbour has a yappy little shit too. Makes no attempt to shut it up no matter what the hour. Drives me mad.

Mind you she also has parties in the Summer that go on till all hours. The odd one? fine but they end up out in the back yard, as we're terraced they're basically partying directly beneath my four kid's bedrooms. Winding said little shit up to bark and bark. One time my son was really unwell, his temp was through the roof and in his bedroom it sounded like there were 50 people in there.

Politely asked her to keep it down and she's practically ignored us ever since.

I can't stand barky dogs either :( in my last house, there were about four of them nearby somewhere that would yap and winge from about 7am Angry

Felt like shooting the little fuckers. Shouldn't they have been indoors anyhow?

YANBU. I don't like yappy little dogs and get so annoyed with owners who think their dogs don't need proper training just because they are little.

I wouldn't make my dog stop barking in our garden at a reasonable hour, in the same way that cat owners don't bother to prevent their cats shitting in my garden. I have have cat owners on both sides of our house. I do stop him barking at night though.

Letting her dog onto your property is different, and she should be told to not let it happen.

We have a yappy dog next door, drives me crazy. It's marginally better than the electric guitar I suppose and they do try to keep it quiet...if you count screaming "Shut the fuck up" at it as trying

How about going out there and saying "Why do you let your dog come into my garden to wee?"

The gates are closed most of the time, opened if I am using the car.

She does it usually while I am waiting for ds2s bus to bring him home. So I am sitting looking out of the window and see her walking past.

I have headed towards the front door before but she always scarpers.

I think she is doing it knowing that I can see her iyswim.

She is already pissed off with me because we won't sell our house (long story)

She sounds a bit odd - why would you let your dog go into someone else's garden/drive to wee? That'd annoy me more than the barking!

Can you wait until she's there one day and then let one of your dogs out so it scares hers away? Or would that be a v irresponsible thing to do?!

Worzel, same reason I wouldn't stop my children playing loudly. They have a right to be there. But tbh, I would make more effort to stop my pet from annoying my neighbours if they gave me the same courtesy. They choose to have cats that come into my garden. I choose to allow my dog to bark in his own garden. He only does it when he can hear other dogs anyway.

Oh curly, you post has clarified something for me.

I couldn't understand why I am so annoyed by her doing thus.

It is because I am always slightly on edge waiting for ds2 and ds2 is really really scared of barking aggressive dogs.
So just as I am waiting to see if he is returning in an all too common state of distress, shevis standing there with acyappy dog guaranteed to really upset and scare him.

Her house is a few down and she really really wants to sell it. We get companies trying to buy this whole section to develop it. But our house is key to that as we have what would be access land.
Does that make sense.
She has sent several developers and her adult son to try persuade us but we are not moving.

Ah. Yes that makes sense. You have a very lovely house, IIRC. It's horrid when they get bulldozed for a modern estate.

I once leapt out of my front door to berate a man who was letting his dog crap outside my front gate (we had a very short path - nothing like yours...). A few days later I leapt out again to berate a different man with the same dog - and he told me the old man had died and he was taking the dog for one last walk before taking it to be put down Sad (It was an old doddery dog).

Your neighbour is clearly trying to intimidate you. You are a woman of great reason. You can rise above it.
