Ok, quick background, I have had a cough for 3 month including throwing up everynight and yesterday started extra antibiotics and steroids... I am also on my period and am getting big 'clots', dd (15 months) is still Breastfeeding and wakes 2-3 times a night...

Today I have been up since 7 and have eaten;

7:30 1 bowl shreddies with skimmed milk
12:30 I cheese and tomato sandwich and packet of McCoys crisps, 1 mini trifle
4:00 1 greggs bean sausage bake, 1 doughnut, half banana
8:00 half carton soup with 2 thin slices of bread, half bit pita bread and small portion of pepper houmous

Tell it to me honestly, is this 'shed loads' am I eating obsessively like dh has just told me?

Has he got food issues?

Is he normally this controlling over your eating?

It doesn't look excessive to me

I won't list what I've eaten today Blush

BeatRoute · 09/03/2011 20:48

The meals look fine to me. Probably could do with more veg (but I am a hypocrite) and am wondering if you do snacks inbetween which would make your DH thinks it is shedloads.

BusyMissIzzy · 09/03/2011 20:49

It's not a huge amount of food, but the sausage & bean bake, the doughnut, the crisps and the trifle are all pretty high in calories. You need extra cals for BFing though, and I always get hungrier when I'm on my period as well.

CrispyTheCrisp · 09/03/2011 20:50

For me, yes that would be a bad day. But then i am usually on a 1200 calorie a day diet

compo · 09/03/2011 20:50

Well today I've had 2 slices of toast, bowl of pasta for lunch, 3 pancakes, 2 biscuits, soup and sandwich for tea

loads more than you!

HeartSkipsABeat · 09/03/2011 20:51

That's not shed loads at all. Why would DH say that? Was he being critical?

I always get hungrier during my period, I'm generally trying to eat healthily and exercise more but I allow myself time off when it's heaviest.

YesPleaseDrChristian · 09/03/2011 20:54

It's not shed loads in terms of quantity.

But it's not particularly healthy, is that what he has an issue with.

Why does he even care?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 09/03/2011 20:56

I'm always starving during my period - and just eat carbs until it comes out of my ears.

TattyDevine · 09/03/2011 20:59

You've sort of had 4 meals instead of 3

But there's no law!

Tell him to get stuffed Grin see what I did there

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 09/03/2011 21:01

Agree with YPDC (would love to to know how you chose your name!) and BATC - not healthy if eaten every day, but normal for period - I always know the day before it comes because of the carb craving - but why the comments from him?

worraliberty · 09/03/2011 21:03

OMG Baroque I read that as you eat 'crabs' til they come out your ears Blush

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 09/03/2011 21:04

Grin worral - no no no I don't eat crabs haha

MissVerinder · 09/03/2011 21:06

GREGGS?
Nah, that's not much at all. He is BU, not you.

activate · 09/03/2011 21:06

if you are ill and breastfeeding that is a diet that will not help you in anyway

too much fat and processed foods, not enough fresh fruit, veg and plain water

ReindeerBollocks · 09/03/2011 21:08

You haven't eaten shed loads. I agree with others I eat horse sized portions when BF or on my period (I am currently eating my body weight in chocolate due to this).

Does your DH eat a vast amount like mine or is he very aware of his dietary intake?

ecobatty · 09/03/2011 21:13

For me that would be shed loads, yes. But more because of the kind of thing, tbh.

notremotelyintofootie · 09/03/2011 22:27

Thanks everyone, I don't normally eat so many carbs but I was knackered and feeling rotten, I would normally have cooked a proper tea with veggies etc but dd didn't settle until 8 and I'm fed up with doing all the food in the house...

Dh needs to lose weight and I think he is transferring his food issues onto me at the moment but tomorrow is another day!

bupcakesandcunting · 09/03/2011 22:52

Poor you OP. I've been on the 'roids since monday and have already seen an increase in appetite. I've had to make DH lock the kitchen door and hide the keyto stop me from going in the fridge and stuffing a block of feta cheese into my face.

Tell your DH to wind his neck in.

Hope you get better soon. You have my sympathies :)

Bogeyface · 09/03/2011 23:07

Tell him to sort out his own house before criticising yours!

OK so it wasnt particularly healthy but maybe thats the issue. I can see a man on a diet looking with longing at your pasty and your doughnut with longing!

Bogeyface · 09/03/2011 23:08

With longing twice no less :o

And is it me or does "looking with longing at your pasty and your doughnut" sound rude? sorry 'bout that Blush

cheekeymonkey · 10/03/2011 00:06

Eat dh, not many calories as a 'pure protein', end of problem. Recommend bernaise sauce to go with him.Don't eat his fat bits.Smile

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 10/03/2011 00:10

Notremotely, with all due respect, your husband is an utter twat, and you have posted about his twattishness many, many times.

Why do you let him get to you? Why are you still there? I wouldn't normally cut to the chase like this, but haven't you said before that you are planning to leave?

LilyBolero · 10/03/2011 00:11

Do you need to lose weight? If not it looks fine (in amounts), though a bit carb-heavy.

I am trying to lose weight atm, still b/feeding my 9 mth old, who like yours is waking 2/3 times in the night. I've had;
3 oatcakes, with parma ham
chicken breast, with roasted tomatoes/mushrooms/courgettes and broccoli
2 glasses of wine (oops)
a few olives
raspberries/blackberries

so no, I wouldn't say you were eating shed loads, especially if you are a good weight already (ie not needing to lose any)

cheekeymonkey · 10/03/2011 00:14

very healthy lily, not sure about the fermented grapes though Wink

LilyBolero · 10/03/2011 00:30

Grin it's very rare I have any wine, but tonight was out at a concert with wine, so treated myself!
