Do you eat your crusts first?

OP posts:
MrsH75 · 09/03/2011 13:20

Sometimes I don't eat them at all Wink

Depends on the bread/pizza.

travellingwilbury · 09/03/2011 13:20

Certainly not

GollyHolightly · 09/03/2011 13:21

Why on god's green earth would a person eat the crusts first? Shock

BillBrysonsRucksack · 09/03/2011 13:21

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for very thrilling replies.

No, btw

giantpurplepeopleeater · 09/03/2011 13:21

Absolutely!!!! Hate the crusts so save the rest (the best bit!) for last!!!!

polskiprincess · 09/03/2011 13:21

I rip them off and throw them away. No filling at the edge so they are pointless imho

glitzy · 09/03/2011 13:21

I do - its the best part! Specially the top of the bread.

ShowOfHands · 09/03/2011 13:22

I'm considering starting a thread about the twigs that keep falling down my chimney. And by 'falling' I mean the bastard crow that insists on living up there keeps trying to rebuild his nest and dropping them down. We swept the chimney last week. We're having a cowl fitted on Friday to stop the little beggar.

See that's much more thrillingy isn't it?

I eat crusts whenever they meet my mouth btw. No order, no system.

MissVerinder · 09/03/2011 13:24

Rip and chuck, me.

My hair is very, very straight.

GollyHolightly · 09/03/2011 13:25

ShowofHands, you're a maverick, you are.

PoledrathePissedOffFairy · 09/03/2011 13:27

Oh, Showy, be careful it's not a bastard jackdaw. Twice last year a jackdaw fell down our chimney. Once it came down the diningroom chimney, so was perched on the bookcase when we came downstairs and the second time the stupid bugger got stuck on the metal plate covering the living room fireplace. Luckily the chimney sweep got it out.

If it makes the same mistake this year, I'm leaving it there. Darwin in action, y'see?

KirstyJC · 09/03/2011 13:27

If it's sandwiches, then I often leave them. If it's toast and I have proper butter (not that low fat crap) then I leave them until last so they go cold and crunchy, whereupon I smother them in butter and eat them slowly, to fully enjoy every mouthful.

Yum.

ShowOfHands · 09/03/2011 13:30

I don't actually know that it's a crow tbh. The sweep said it looked like a crow's nest and it sounded like a crow when he was chastising us for removing his- frankly enormous- nest. I've never seen him. He's a chatty little feck though. Squeaking the night away, lobbing twigs down the chimney. I think he's got a lady friend up there atm.

We're having a logburner put in on Friday. His days are numbered.

Serennos · 09/03/2011 13:30

Save 'em til last, then have a good sniff to heighten the enjoyment of what is, without question, the best part of the bread.

piprabbit · 09/03/2011 13:32

Hard/crispy/crusty crusts are eaten first to get rid of them.

Soft/squidgy crusts are saved until last.

CupAndSaucer · 09/03/2011 13:32

I try to alternate mouthfuls between crust and crustless - ensuring I finish on crustless. I used to eat the crusts first but found it too arduous to eat that much crust first.

I always cut my sandwiches diagonally to get a better crust to crustless ratio. My brain tells me the amount of crust is the same, but it just seems more favourable somehow.

Great thread! Grin

Bucharest · 09/03/2011 13:35

Knew it.

Nutters.

(although I have to cut Mars Bars up with a knife and have really neat, layered lumps) Grin

BillBrysonsRucksack · 09/03/2011 13:36

Loving your work cupandsaucer

ChaosTrulyReigns · 09/03/2011 14:10

[hard stare]

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 09/03/2011 14:13

Ooh I haven't had a mars bar for about 10 years. Mmmmmmmm.

Chaosy, I could only ever hijack your threads, because you're so accommodating. Other folks are not so nice.

Is this data for your spreadsheet btw?

loonyrationalist · 09/03/2011 14:24

What Mars Bar craziness is this???

On crusts; yep - is like the chore before the good bit. I truly wish I was less conditioned & could just leave them as the dd's do.

PoledrathePissedOffFairy · 09/03/2011 14:31

Chaos, you have so many thread running, there's no room for anyone else, so we have to hi-jack yours Grin

nickelprincess · 09/03/2011 15:07

Showy do yo ulive on a ship?
maybe it actually was a crow's nest, not a nest of a crow, iyswim.

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/03/2011 15:09

The dog eats ours.

1717 · 09/03/2011 15:13

I have been having crust guilt lately, trying to lose weight, and so it would be better to rip and chuck, but I can't stop myself from eating them first.

Confused It really shouldn't be so hard to resist them! Just empty pathetic calories.
