How poncetastic are you?

Twice this weekend i have had TheLook frm friends implying that I have my foot on the slippery slope to wankfrippery.

Shock

Firstly, I was caught with my Sat Nav tuned to the dulcet tones of Jacques issuing directions en francais.

And secondly, I received the Raised Eyebrow when my BF spotted the candle bags placed beautifully outside my humble abode specifically to provide a warm welcome to ungrateful visitors.

Please comfort by sharing your worst affectations.

I hate soup spoons, would much rather use a dessert spoon for everything.

lemonmousse · 07/03/2011 22:02

Oh dear - I fear I have very limited ponceyness - though I do occasionally use the fish knives and forks I got for a wedding present (requested by me on my wedding list) which DH finds highly amusing! They are still nice and shiney even after 20 years!

candleshoe · 07/03/2011 22:03

I have got beautiful French emboidered hand towels which I don't let anyone use!

I put them out only for visitors.

phooey · 07/03/2011 22:04

I have totally co-ordinated Laura Ashley cushions, throw, mugs and curtains on credit

Don't get poncey candles though, what's wrong with Lenor Infusions fgs?

I use linen napkins but drink red wine out of a tumbler [confused}.

Is there any hope for me?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 07/03/2011 22:07

It's ok candleshoe.

You're in safe hands here.

So long as you don't use the old Nescafe jars as coffee mugs I think it'll be OK TMWOSQuench!

Mumcentreplus · 07/03/2011 22:09

You are allowed to be poncey and drink red from a tumbler..you are being European darlink ..

psiloveyou · 07/03/2011 22:09

DS and I ventured into Cath Kidston last week. He said "oh mummy you can't shop in here, this stuff is so old ladyish". I think he was right it was horrible.

Apart from that I am very very poncetastic Smile

Mumcentreplus · 07/03/2011 22:11

I have 'PartyLite candles'..I don't like the look of Yankee candles

candleshoe · 07/03/2011 22:15

I have no candles here and I loathed the only 'Party Lite' party I ever went to some of them were £70 FFS

Boobalina · 07/03/2011 22:16

I have Cath Kidson apron, use butter dish, tea pot etc. Have White Company Kingsize bed linen (and replica lookilikey version from tesco - broderie anglais - shhh) I plump the cushions in the living room and make all the throws straight on the sofa before I go to bed. I buy my self flowers and display them in quirky jam jars with ribbons tied round them, I have my own homemade pottery on display and I have about 50 gizillion bloody hearts hanging about the place - made out of wood, wicker, tin glass etc... a la Vinegar Hill.

Best poncestatic was my supper tonight....

Pancakes with Nutella and bananas, 2 bags of crisps and some biscuits foie gras on melba toast and larks tongues souffle

Ahem ....

Katey1010 · 07/03/2011 22:17

GlynisIsFixed I see your "sun" dried tomatoes and raise you homemade peach nectar. For Bellini, in proper flutes. Slam and dunk. Grin While you are making it, the house smells lovely. No need for scented candles.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 07/03/2011 22:18

Phew! European poncery - of course!

candleshoe · 07/03/2011 22:20

Boobalina - I am impressed!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 07/03/2011 22:21

Thank you thank you Boobs for that Vinegar Hill tip.

It looks absolutely full of wankfrippery that I need.

Grin

But I have found a product on there that requires a thread all of it's own.

katey1010 recipe for poncetastic peach nectar please :)

Boobalina · 07/03/2011 22:26

Vinger Hall totally pisses all over Cath Kidson - I'm not overly keen on her patterns to be fair - perfer the John Lewis rip offs in stead... oh did I mention I have a spotty wipe clean table cloth (a la woolworths circa 2007) and several pieces of old mank pine / wicker family heirloom furniture repainted antique white and reupholstered by me?

Oh and my back door is painted Farrow and Ball French Grey (except its kevin Mclouds same colour cheaper B&Q version)

Ponce ponce ponce!

SarahStrattonHasNiceBears · 07/03/2011 22:27

Red wine out of tumblers is fine, very Rustique Wankfrippery :)

ChaosTrulyReigns · 07/03/2011 22:27
