I have lurked and posted on an off for over five years, but recently noticed a few things about the 'zeitgeist' of MN, without getting all serious and judgey pants, lets have laff and describe a typical MNetter, for example:

Boden? (just dont get this is this right or wrong?) Hmm
Saggy 'norks'? Blush

And possibly what they are not....

No brown leather sofa (supposedly laughed at this on confession thread recently)
No fruitshoots

Hmm probable easier to do a UNMNetter!

JUST FOR LAFFS Grin

Hmmmm:

I wear non-patterned Boden.

Fruit shoots are banned.

I do not own a brown leather sofa.

I only "do" wooden toys.

I don't own a 4x4.

I hate soft play.

I hate "made up" names for children.

I don't wear polyester or nylon.

I shop mainly in my local farm shop for meat.

I own a wide screen plasma television (but not Sky).

Hmmm I wonder where I would be.

LadyOfTheManor · 03/03/2011 11:02

My norks are pretty fabulous.

bupcakesandcunting · 03/03/2011 11:03

It's brown pleather that is frowned upon, AFAIK.

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:06

No greggs sausage rolls then

{smile] non patterned boden - so specific I love it!

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:18

I will try to do a defintive list of MN and so UNMN depends on responses!

OP posts:
lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:19

Bups whats pleather - see its these nuonces I dont get. I am so skiving from studying at the MO!

OP posts:
CameronCook · 03/03/2011 11:21

I buy boden and primark.

I have a brown leather sofa - 2 in fact.

I'm off out to shops in a mo and have based my shopping centre choice purely on the fact that there is a Greggs in there

CameronCook · 03/03/2011 11:22

pleather is fake leather is it not - an amalgam of plastic and leather?

CameronCook · 03/03/2011 11:23

oh and my norks are perky well whilst hoisted up by a bra at least

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:23

Where could we put:

PJ days
Halfterm 'exchange of acitvities'
Cbeebies
Anaysis of in-laws issues
Pets - lots of dogs and cats recently
AIBU - the dumbing down of re all goes on for 'traffic' reasons

OP posts:
bupcakesandcunting · 03/03/2011 11:23

Pleather = plastic leather Grin

ethelina · 03/03/2011 11:24

I have good clothes, I rarely wear anything but jeans and boots though due to getting baby sick on me 10 times a day

I have a brown pleather sofa in my kitchen

I have wooden toys, though my son prefers bright noisy plastic Hmm

I do, in fact, own a 4x4 estate (live miles from anywhere halfway up a hill though)

I BF anywhere I am

My norks are stratospherically amazing and huge due to BF Grin

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:24

Right 'pleather'

But ladies you have to say what is

MN

UNMN

OP posts:
ethelina · 03/03/2011 11:26

However I fail because I love my in-laws more than my own mother who is, quite frankly, mad.

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:30

Oh no its not pass or fail eth you certainly dont have to meet all criteria!
I dont wear Bogen but wear Monsoon (patterns too)
I dont have a pleather but a lot of ikea Grin

OP posts:
bupcakesandcunting · 03/03/2011 11:37

MN

Being acidic
F&B paint
Indigo children

UNMN

Hugs and tickers
Greggs produce
Pierced ears on children under 12

MitchiestInge · 03/03/2011 11:37

hope my AUBERGINE leather sofa is tasteless enough to be unMN

did have a 4x4, not managing well without one but at least the last one was held together by baling twine

had a fruit shoot yesterday, my first I think, can't imagine how hungry I'd have to be to eat a sausage roll though

some things from Boden that hopefully don't scream Boden, but did notice most of my life spread across pages of recent Boden catalogue - springer spaniel, land rovers, ponies except obviously not conducting my life in a cashmere tunic but in ASDA jeans

lovenamechange100 · 03/03/2011 11:39

Great keep em coming! Please remember its for laffs.

LadyOfTheManor · 04/03/2011 08:21

MN-

Books and bookshelves (preferably lots of books on feminism)

Radio 4 continuously on in house and car (extra points if that car is a 4x4 or a Volvo)

Several middle names

Arguing over Nigella's latest recipe and the conspiracy theory that follows "Does she really write this herself?". Stop the press. Hmm

rosie1979 · 04/03/2011 10:58

MN - Radio 4 always on in the background

Boden - on kids NOT me

Several middle names

Homemade organic sausage rolls

Organic food and milk

No fruit shoots! (or diet coke for me because of that sweetener)

Large trampoline in back garden
(with a net) Wink

Not MN

LOADS of plastic crap - as well as the tasteful wooden crap

Dont have a 2 year age gap between DC

:)

Rabat · 04/03/2011 11:26

I buy from Boden (non patterned)
I buy from Morrisons/waitrose (closest)
I own black leather sofas, cream fabric sofas and beige fabric sofa
I don't buy fruit shoots in the supermarket but don't have an issue with them with a McDonald's meal or when out and about.
I don't drive a 4x4
I let children eat Gregs sausage rolls now and again
We all have one middle name
Mixture of plastic and wooden toys
I BF children for over a year
I work part-time
I buy meat from the local butcher and veg from Riverford
DH insists of lots of flat screen TVs - I think we have 7 in current use.

BulletWithAName · 04/03/2011 11:40

I would never, EVER buy Boden for me or my DC's.
I own a third- hand chenille sofa.
My DS takes fruitshoot H2O's to nursery twice a week.
Both my DC's have two middle names.
I don't do wooden toys- over priced and usually boring.
I don't have a flat-screen as we can't afford one.
I buy all my food from ASDA.
I don't have saggy norks.
I don't have a problem with Greggs sausage rolls in moderation.
I was a 'teenage' mother.
I vote UKIP.

I think I'm probably extremely un MN! Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 04/03/2011 11:48

I have 2 middle names and a brown leather sofa. But it is a horribly beaten-up 8th-hand seedy gentlemen's club style monstrosity vintage chesterfield. Not sure where that leaves me.

I reckon there's two types of MNer:

Type A:

Boden wearing
F&B decorating
Organic buying
From-scratch-cooking
Discreet show-off-ing
Private educating

Type B:

Angry socialist
