I think it is too hard to rehome an animal

I bought a puppy a few months ago and I really love him - he was the right choice for us. He cost £100.

He was vacc's and I will pay to have him castrated soon.

He has been such a success that I have been looking into getting him a companion. I would like to help a dog and rescue them but they want stupid amounts of money and loads of home vists.

I am just put off, and it is a shame because I could easily home another dog and give him a good life.

I think I will just buy another puppy I am afraid.

will you fuck up about these two effing walks a day.

do you think a dog has to be hurt to snap?

Vallhala · 03/03/2011 02:13

Baroque, what a sweetheart!

Jambo is cute too and your children are beautiful. How comes they all look so angelic?!

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:13

Baroque - there's quite a lot on it - but I will trawl back through it.

Vallhala · 03/03/2011 02:14

Booy, I think he'd be glad to get rid of me! :o

BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:17

baroque she's gorgeous!!

and jambo looks like my russell with a bit less black!!

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:17

BFuckingH - No I won't shut up about looking after Dog and feeding him, giving him affection and giving him 2 walks a day and ABOUT TO GET INSURANCE.

Why should I.

What else do you want for a dog? Acupuncture, homeopathy?

OP posts:
BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:19

WOW, about to get insurance!! well that proves it then. you absoloutely are the perfect person to give a dog to. how could anyone argue with that? Hmm

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:21

I did ask advice on insurance, but of course it got lost in your nastiness.

Lovely smiley face, how childish of you.

Yes, Hans, dogs can have acupuncture. Worked a treat on my friend's Greyhound.

Have you ever heard of Ttouch? He swears by that too.

Booy and Baroque, I've just mailed this thread to my cousin, who's just come home from shiftwork as a Bobby.

Apparently I'm on good form tonight. Hmm :o

I don't think I deserve the praise. Sometimes it's all a bit too easy. :o

BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:23

and you don't think it is childish to strop and say you will buy a puppy because people on this thread have given you great advice on why the rescue have so many checks to go through? no, that's not childish at all.

BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:25

you're on great form val, I'm browsing for rings right this minute Wink

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:25

Some money to pay for the excess and vets bills not covered by insurance perhaps? Oh and of course food, leads, collars, vaccs, dental treatment, kennels etc etc etc

Boo and Val - yes she was lovely. I was the only one that could do anything I wanted to her/her things - she would make it very clear to my older brother that he wasn't allowed to do the same things. We put it down to the fact that I arrived as a teeny tiny new born baby into her very young life and she saw me has her baby. I could take food out of her mouth (god it's vile thing about it - I used to take her biscuits not just out of teh bowl/cupboard and eat them but out of her mouth) and she'd sit there and look dejected.......if my 4yrs my senior brother tried that trick he was snarled at.

She was daft as a brush - and terrified of sheep (really useful and quie funny given we lived in the countryside in the NE of England at the time Grin - many an anxious farmer was reduced to tears of laugher when we used to walk her, and a friends Border Collie across the fields.......often co-inciding with lambing season. They would stand and watch concerned.........until a sheep baa'd and the two dogs would bolt in the opposite direction Grin - oh happy memories.

And yes - Jambo is a sweety. He's a bossy, and lazy nibbler.......if he's had enough of you and haven't took the hint he won't bugger off he'll nibble you to stop fussing/playing with him

And my children - looks are deceiving Wink

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:27

Val - I know dogs can have acupuncture and even therapeutic swimming but I don't think I could be be regarded as a bad owner for having general insurance which I will upgrade when my business gets up and running.

I feel that we have lost the meaning of this thread which is that I would like to help dogs in kennels despite being strapped but don't feel that I can pass the tests right now.

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:27

yes - my premium insurance I get £750 of complimentary Treatment per year.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:30

If you wan to help dogs in kennels why not make a monthly donation to your local one until you can actually afford a dog?

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:30

Baroque - what does that mean? You mean homeo and stuff?

OP posts:
SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:31

Baroque - back off - you have misread me

OP posts:
BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:32

are you on the sauce OP?

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:33

BHP - no why? Maybe a bit.

OP posts:
Vallhala · 03/03/2011 02:34

That's because you shouldn't pass those tests right now. Not the ones which genuinely are in place in most rescues or even the imaginary ones which you have dreamt up out of thin air and accused rescue of having.

Your AIBU was "AIBU to think that it's too hard to rehome an animal", the answer to which is YABU as sometimes it#s too bloody easy and should be made a lot harder. Only the decent rescues make it what you call "hard".

I'm not saying that this will always be the case for you but at the moment rescue would be utterly correct in turning you down.

BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:34

is BHP me? Confused

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:34

Isn't everyone at this time of day? Hands up who's on the sauce.

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:35

Not on the sauce but oh fuck I'm out of filter tips.

Vallhala · 03/03/2011 02:37

I very rarely drink alcohol - my last alcoholic drink was a glass of wine on Boxing Day IIRC.

I do a fine line in guzzling tea and sparkling water though. :o

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:38

Val - they did not turn me down. I admit I only bothered with Mayhew - but it was 3 visits, 1 to the centre, 1 to the foster home then 1 to my home. The dog was then otherwise rehomed and they asked me to consider another dog but then I broke my arm and couldn't be arsed. So, it wasn't their fault, but they did not turn me down.
