I think it is too hard to rehome an animal

I bought a puppy a few months ago and I really love him - he was the right choice for us. He cost £100.

He was vacc's and I will pay to have him castrated soon.

He has been such a success that I have been looking into getting him a companion. I would like to help a dog and rescue them but they want stupid amounts of money and loads of home vists.

I am just put off, and it is a shame because I could easily home another dog and give him a good life.

I think I will just buy another puppy I am afraid.

LOVE AND WALKS DON'T PAY THE VETS BILLS

BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 01:53

your child carries a DOG (with teeth) around like a handbag, can you not see how dangerous taht is to teach your child that this is an appropriate way to behave around dogs??? who do you blame when he tries it on a strange dog and gets his nose bitten off?

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 01:53

BooFuckingHoo - what do you mean about DS2 and dogs and what is HTH?

OP posts:
BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 01:54

HTH= hope this helps.

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 01:55

Baroque - insurance does - I am going to get it, already asked about it. Bangs head on wall too!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 01:55

she means that if youre DS2 doesn't learn to tret the dog properly and stop carting it round like a fashiong accesory/toy one day he's going to get a chunk (or more) taken out of him "HTH=hope that help"

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 01:57

SuperHans - are you really that stupid.

Insurance will require an excess to be paid EVERY time you claim - mine is around £75 (I have quite a high level insurance "just in case" - I'd rather pay out the extra £5 or 6 a month for the preium level insurance and get more paid if he's long term sick than risk otherwise.

AND it wo't cover everything.

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 01:58

DS2 is 11 and is super gentle with Dog - I was only being humourous - I saw him doing it once. Dog never, ever bites, especially not DS2, they really love each other.

He wouldn't dream of doing it with a strange dog.

Baroque - I am sorry, what is stupid, getting insurance? I think you might be stuck in a negative loop here.

Hilarious. I'm too impassioned and wrong, despite havingf been involved in rescue for years.

And you're the expert of course, despite not telling the truth about the way rescue practices, despite buying from a backyard breeder, despite not knowing the difference between a rescue and a pound, despite not having your dog neutered yet, despite not having your dog insured, despite feeding your dog crap, despite not comprehending that it is RESPONSIBLE and RIGHT that rescue should carry out the checks they do, despite not understanding that a rescue dog is less expensive to take on than the backyard breeder's pup, despite saying that you'd consider taking an unassessed pound dog home to your kids, despite allowing your kid to pick the dog up as if he were a toy, despite not being able to afford your existing dog properly...

Yes love, you're the expert, of course you are.

BTW, you spoke of getting a dog via a pound after you'd found that a rescue wouldn't just let you walk in and walk out 5 minutes later with a dog... but I thought you said that you didn't know the difference between a rescue and a pound? Hmm Hmm

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:02

How do you know he's not going to bite "ever" - he's still a puppy!

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:03

No I don't know the difference between a rescue and a pound.

OP posts:
BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:04

"Dog never, ever bites, especially not DS2, they really love each other."

what never? in the whole 4 months that you have had him? wow, i mean, taht means he never ever will doesn't it?? FFS Angry @ the stupidity of some people.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:04

I asked you how you were going to pay the vets bills as walks and love don't do that.

You said insurance.

I am pointing out that even WITH insurance - which you have to pay monthly (unless you've got £100-150 or so just lying around........) you will still have to pay vets fees as there is an excess to pay, and some things which are not covered by insurance.

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:04

Baroque - fingers crossed. He has been treated well, let's hope so!

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:04

you don't know the difference between a resuce and pound - read your own fucking thread then - it's been explained!

Vallhala · 03/03/2011 02:05

"No I don't know the difference between a rescue and a pound."

What? Even now?

Seriously?

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:06

BooFuckingHoo - well, in the 4 months we have had him of his 6 months of life he hasn't proved to be a biter.

OP posts:
BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:07

"fingers crossed. He has been treated well, let's hope so!"

carrying him round like a handbag isn't treating him well.

and what teh fuck do you mean, "fingers crossed, lets hope so"?? do not leave this to chance. teach your children how to behave around dogs so it doesn't happen, don't go round 'hoping' it wont and thinking taht is enough!!!!

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:08

Val - no, why don't you tell me? I thought that a "pound" was an American thing. Which I have already said.

OP posts:
Vallhala · 03/03/2011 02:10

Please see above. I have already given a brief explanation of the difference between a pound and a rescue.

The old woman in me wants to make disparaging remarks about the way London's schools have gone downhill and about comprehensives educating to the lowest common denominator.

The realist in me is more inclined to complain about the catastrophe that is care in the community...

... either way it isn't looking good for London's future!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:10

btw proper doggy lovers - have uploaded a photo onto my MN profile of the dog my dad rescued that I mentioned earlier......

SuperHans · 03/03/2011 02:10

BFuckingH - My children have treated him very well, as have I. No one has ever hurt Dog at all and he is very well treated and gets 2 big walks a day.

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/03/2011 02:11

SuperHans - you could read your own thread where it was clearly explained earlier on..............

BooyFuckingHoo · 03/03/2011 02:12
