We were in the bank today and my ds offered a crisp to the baby behind us. I told him that he might not be allowed it thinking he was too young and he should ask his mummy. I then looked down and saw this baby (under 1) was holding a mcdonalds wrapper. I assumed that it was just for him to play with but then the mum said to ds "oh he's probably full up he's just had mcdonalds" Hmm
I think she saw the look on my face when she said that as she gave me a very funny look!

Please tell me I anbu and that it's not just me being odd about it!

Your son had crisps

Both are junk foods

Weegle · 02/03/2011 19:51

she was probably a MN'er and joking!

portaloo · 02/03/2011 19:51
Biscuit
nickytwotimes · 02/03/2011 19:52

were they pom bears?

belledechocchipcookie · 02/03/2011 19:52

It's not the best food for a baby, the salt isn't good but who am I to judge, probably just as salty as a crisp though Wink. Ds was 3 when he went to McCraps for the first time.

5DollarShake · 02/03/2011 19:52

Your DS was eating crisps and you're looking down on a McDonald's meal? Hardly a paragon, are you? Grin

TheMonster · 02/03/2011 19:52

I am guessing that the OP's ds is over one.
A McDonald's under one year of age isn't good. It has such a high salt content.

twinkytonk · 02/03/2011 19:53

Lol I know rubyslippers it was a treat and he is a few years older than the baby. I don't even feed him mcdonalds.

Ha ha I hope so Weegle

GlynisIsFixed · 02/03/2011 19:53

see, you let the story down by saying you were in the bank, if you'd been at the benefits office...................

thisisyesterday · 02/03/2011 19:53

you know what? i would probably be thought of as fairly lentil-weavery and anal about what my kids eat..

but i really don't see that mcdonalds is that bad...
what's wrong with fries aside from the salt?
and a burger is just bread and meat...

rinabean · 02/03/2011 19:54

Yes, extremely bad. I recommend we hunt her down and stone her. Of course the baby has probably already died due to this awful abuse.

Um, YABU. Very judgey. I wouldn't personally feed my DD (20 months) McDonalds on a regular basis, but she has had it once, at an airport. You never know, this child may have never had it before and may not have it again.
Best not to judge too harshly IMHO.
If she said 'Oh he's probably full up on his daily McDonalds breakfast and lunch' then you would have a point. But she didn't.

worraliberty · 02/03/2011 19:55

Oh for goodness sake it's not going to kill the baby as long as it's not fed constantly on it.

cansu · 02/03/2011 19:56

Yes it is not good food, but I take a rather different stance as I have two dc who have feeding difficulties due to autism. My whole attitude to food has mellowed. I no longer judge anyone on food or on anything really, I dread to think how I would be judged!

twinkytonk · 02/03/2011 19:57

BloodyMoFo I was just shocked that's all nothing awful! Not as if I told her she shouldn't feed her child that.

OP posts:
Fourleaf · 02/03/2011 19:57

Well, it's not ideal but it's not abuse either so not really your business IMHO.

sungirltan · 02/03/2011 19:59

i am horrified that mcdonalds provide highcahirs.

catwhiskers10 · 02/03/2011 20:00

I gave my DD some chips from mcdonalds when she was about 8 months and she had chicken from KFC at 1 year old.
She eats healthy meals at home and we were having it so I don't see the harm.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 02/03/2011 20:01

Baby might ave had fish fingers, carrot sticks and orange juice. Not too bad imo

BuzzLiteBeer · 02/03/2011 20:03

Yawn.

givemeaclue · 02/03/2011 20:03

who knows what he had at macdonalds? he could have had apple, carrot sticks and milk

twinkytonk · 02/03/2011 20:04

He could have but I saw what he had in the carton at the time.

Lulumama · 02/03/2011 20:06

oh my giddy god

you sneered , yes , sneered at a woman, whilst feeding your child crisps.

you are being odd about it

I am sure you are a lovely person, but it's such a 'meh' thing IMO

and then to come and post on MN, with your judgey pants hoiked firmly up

have a Wine and relaaaaaaaaaaaaax
