Bureaucracy at its best. I bet there's a right and wrong way to staple as well Hully

Hullygully · 04/03/2011 09:42

Oh god. New frets to fret over.

We have to send 85 envelopes as well and a lock of our great grandmother's hair. And eight million pounds. I think it's all revenge for what we put Indians through at Heathrow.

We had issues getting the right papework for a last minute bargain trip to Cuba years ago.

In retrospect I was so stressed by the dealings with the entry requirements that I totally failed to relax.

Pagwatch · 04/03/2011 09:59

they send cars to take us to barbados.

i am happy to be cliche and boreish in order to travel in comfort and be welcomed with drinks containing unbrellas and fruit.

why does a drink need an unmbrella, it is already wet.

is it to avoid rain dilution?

I have to scroll back to understand power of barbra references.

Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:13

Oh me too, Paggy, me too. Happy were the days that I wandered thusly, met and gret, every whim catereed too, even those I didn't know I had..

I like those monkeys on sticks in my cocktails too.

Did you meet michael Winner?

That would be my fear.

Jins · 04/03/2011 10:23

Barbados and Cuba aren't in the same league. Barbados is my favourite place in the whole world despite getting married there. I wasn't keen on Cuba - fantastic sights but hated the tourist ghettos and the fact that our chambermaid took my worn out flipflops from the bin because they were better than anything she had.

There's nothing beats a Bajan rum punch at a welcome meeting.

Jins · 04/03/2011 10:24

We didn't meet Michael Winner OR Cliff Richard.

However Tony Blair and the lovely Cherie arrived on our beach at the wrong time of day - ie happy hour.

Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:26

did you heckle? how fab!

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 04/03/2011 10:29

Michael winner is kept in a safe enclosure around sandy land. there are occasional sighting at sundown and of course, he is much persued by tourists asking how a man can forge a whole career off the back of one well known movie. Others just want to give him a kicking

we have no celebrities. we had a lord who kept winking at me and a man called the admiral who looked like a bull dog and had a lot of attractive women in his group.

Pagwatch · 04/03/2011 10:29

yy, tell me about the heckling. how brilliant

Jins · 04/03/2011 10:30

I heckled like a good un along with 3 other women who obviously were the best friends I ever made on holiday but can't remember their names now.

We even swam out quite a long distance to the boat they were on to make sure they heard and one person hired a pedalo specially.

It was fab.

Jins · 04/03/2011 10:31

We were on Paynes Bay Pag with free flowing alcohol. It was a quick walk to Sandy Lane but Michael Winner wasn't there at the time

Pagwatch · 04/03/2011 10:33

hahahahaha @ swimming out to heckle and pedalo rage.

we are going back in April [sigh]

Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:37

Jealous now.

Suddenly, wandering about the jungle with mossies and complaining offspring is losing its allure

Jins · 04/03/2011 10:39

I'm jealous of both of you. It's going to be a while before I get anywhere exciting.

Short city breaks and a caravan in North Wales for me this year

Pagwatch · 04/03/2011 10:39

no. you are glamorous and exotic. I am a fat dull woman squeezed into an inadequate amount of lycra, drinking fruit cocktails in afternoon

Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:41

no, I am a fat dull perspiring and bitten woman, desperately swigging from a hip flask whilst ignoring the snakes and complaining offspring.

OP posts:
Jins · 04/03/2011 10:42

Well.....

If either of you would prefer being a croc wearing mad haired woman sloping off to a communal shower block just let me know and I'll swap

Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:42

We went to an all-inc in Kenya once. I have never been so exhausted trying to cram in all the meals and drinks. And couldn't leave the compound for beseigement by the pore ol poor.

Never ever ever again.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:43

No, you're all right there, Jins.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 04/03/2011 10:43

But why North Wales?

Do you like rain? There are other places with caravans, surely?

OP posts:
Jins · 04/03/2011 10:46

Meeting some friends for an alcohol soaked and irresponsible time. It's near enough to a festival that DS1 intends going to to be on hand in case of emergency yet far enough away to let him feel independent.

Hopefully we'll find time for another break somewhere more sunny

Umami · 04/03/2011 10:46

Sheerness, for example.
