As I spent most of my time here..I thought I'd use it to say goodbye

As starkly reminded by recent threads, MN is not the sort of place that I feel very safe, with or without anonymity. I don't expect to be missed, I have often been quite and outspoken bitch on here and haven't exactly made a lot of friends. I am delighted to have met some of the feminists, and will hopefully see them again. But twice in two weeks I've had PMs reminding me of things I've posted about my husband and I'm really upset about it. For me MN has been a quick knee jerk experience, one that captures my mood at any moment. So toodle pip.....about time I did more with the dcs anyway.

I am really aware that this is an attention seeking thread, but I just wanted MN to know that I won't be the only one leaving when apparent heartbreak (not mine) is fodder for someone's 'shit stirring Sunday'.....

Sue...how do you know she's been banned ?

rocketleaf · 22/02/2011 21:02

Easy bit of twitter stalking told me. I can't imagine using the same user name on there as I do here. Asking for trouble.

OADCB · 22/02/2011 21:03

Well nannynick was giving her advise on proxy servers and registering so assume banned

SueWhite · 22/02/2011 21:03

Because I am so fucking bored (and immobile for various drawn-out reasons) that I tried to find her on Twitter to see exactly what she was posting. She's blocked her Twitter feed but it brought up a load of posts from other people going 'omg I can't believe they banned you' etc. so I assume she has been

Nellykats · 22/02/2011 21:04

Please don't go, don't give the pleasure to those nasty idiots that pm'ed you maliciously. Good for you to publicly talk about your personal life when you felt like it, I mean that is the point of MN isn't it? To offer and ask for support?
Do ask to have any threads deleted that you worry about, but don't go, nobody should make you run away! And do report them to MN, it's a misuse of pm in my opinion.

Nelly xxxx

GotArt · 22/02/2011 21:07

Sounds like you need the break. Ciao ciao for now Posie and we'll see you soon. Grin

SueWhite · 22/02/2011 21:08

Her Twitter name is the same as her MN name, it's pretty easy.

Lougle · 22/02/2011 21:12

Erm...Isn't that just as bad as the original issue, here?

We disapprove of bringing MN threads to Twitter, for the whole world to see, but then people recount information from Twitter, when the (allegedly former) poster in question isn't here to defend herself?

Not on. IMO.

SueWhite · 22/02/2011 21:15

But the entire purpose of Twitter is to broadcast yourself to the internet, most of the time under your own name. The purpose of MN is to talk to people about certain issues, albeit in the knowledge that you are Googlable. And the thread she tweeted in the first place was a sensitive one, which was why people are cross. This isn't about a sensitive issue. This is about her getting kicked off because she was horrible to someone.

OADCB · 22/02/2011 21:17

Shouldn't have been tweeted.

You one of her lapdogs?

OADCB · 22/02/2011 21:18

I don't use tweet in the way many do.

Would be mega pissed off if a thread I started was tweeted

Lougle · 22/02/2011 21:21

OADCB was that directed at me Confused

I would think anyone who 'knows' me on here, knows I am nobody's lapdog.

My personal opinion of the poster in question holds no bearing on my opinion that it isn't good form to post from another source on here about a poster who cannot defend themselves.

PeterAndreForPM · 22/02/2011 21:21

...here comes the backlash < yawn >

MmeLindt · 22/02/2011 21:24

Agree Lougle.

I don't think that posting her comments from Twitter is ok.

I don't think that she did it to be nasty but it was misguided and wrong.

SueWhite · 22/02/2011 21:24

Can't say I really care all that much.

And I doubt the Tweeter in question will, when she was here earlier talking about how when you put something on the internet, everyone can see it etc. and you have to accept that. As she didn't seem to think it was a bad thing to tweet someone's sensitive thread, I'm sure she won't be bothered that people have discovered from Twitter that she has been banned.

OADCB · 22/02/2011 21:25

Yes it was aimed at you lougle.

As one who doesn't keep spreadsheets or track of posters I have no idea what you are like.

I choose to use mumsnet. I don't choose for my posts to be tweeted. If you tweet about a thread then you have to expect it will be mentioned on the thread if pertinent.

PeterAndreForPM · 22/02/2011 21:25

The most satisfying thing about this whole debacle is the proof that one poster is not bigger than the collective that is Mumsnet

call that wanky of you like

but first she cruelly touted another's misfortune in an attempt to bring others to point and laugh

was defensive and arsey when pulled up on it

then made another poster very uncomfortable by dragging up personal stuff from previous deleted threads/old usernames

I think she did think she was smart, and funny and irreverant

epic fail

Boris Johnson is quite fun.

BitOfFun · 22/02/2011 21:28

Oh now Peter- you can't use phrases like epic fail. Next you'll be duding us like TSC Grin

NinkyNonker · 22/02/2011 21:30

Lol at epic fail, I hate text speak but so apt to describe how much I love seeing that used!

Posie, I've seen you on lots of threads, and would be sad to see you go. I replied 'lightly' when I first saw your post as I didn't know whether you wanted this to be ongoing, but as it is still here...I'm back! I'm not royalty, not many people will recognise me (name changed a few months back) but hey ho.

I know who is being talked about, and registered by disgust on the public forum thread.
