I had high hopes when I joined MN that I would find a community of helpful, supportive, kind and caring people ... Mums in other words!

So far I have found a few witty and brilliant characters but mostly every thread I've lurked/posted on has been populated by violently opinionated and judgemental people.

Am I on the wrong threads or is the anonimity of MN the root of the problem. Where are all the nice mumsy types hiding? Are they just lurking so they don't get flamed?

I'm getting a secret thrill from being considered a mean girl, when the strongest I ever get on MN is a bit terse.

Habbibu there are two facts you should know about the watercress:

ive been a lurker for ages now, and finaly posted a reply on the "dh eating everything i buy at once" thread, in a slightly hijacking manner, and had some really lovely replies, i even got a very un mumnet hug (im conditioned to follow this with LOL but i worry that mn is anti loling am i right?)
i have def seen a bit of harshness in other threads but these things will generate opinions that others will not always agree with and people will voice their opinions more eloquently than others i guess.
im sure i will be on the recieving end of it eventually, cirtainly wont let it put me off though.
