I had high hopes when I joined MN that I would find a community of helpful, supportive, kind and caring people ... Mums in other words!

So far I have found a few witty and brilliant characters but mostly every thread I've lurked/posted on has been populated by violently opinionated and judgemental people.

Am I on the wrong threads or is the anonimity of MN the root of the problem. Where are all the nice mumsy types hiding? Are they just lurking so they don't get flamed?

OP posts:

Perhaps aibu isn't the place, but there are other bits of mn where there's far less arguing debate

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 22/02/2011 18:23

verbalreasoning.... a crap day then. :(

There are supportive people here, there are also some feisty ones with very definite views on things. Ignore the ones you don't want to engage with and chat away.

I get told off for most posts I write, it's difficult with a big audience not to offend somebody about something, but that's chatboards for you.

Waves to Bubbub one page back... it's a bit rude that you weren't acknowledged but I think they're caught up in their own chat up there. :)

FourFortyFour · 22/02/2011 18:24

AIBU is not the calmest place in here..

bubbub · 22/02/2011 18:39

waves back, no worries its all good :)

LilRedWG · 22/02/2011 18:46

Two years ago today when my Mum died just 16 days after my Dad died, there were many, many, supportive MNers who were fantastic and many have supported me since, so YES you are on the wrong threads.

PacificDogwood · 22/02/2011 19:05

VR, sorry for your sad day Sad.
And sorry to hear we have not been able to convince you of the fact that the warm bosom of MN exists.
Hope you have a nice evening.

Ormirian · 22/02/2011 19:22

Ha ha. I do LOVE a good Venn diagram. Do you get the bitchiest un-mummsy-ist posters in the middle bit, on the Venn, then ?

Oh who is going to be in the middle bit then ? Wink

Hullygully · 22/02/2011 19:44

VR- sorry you have had a bad day, doesn't this thread reassure you that there is love and laughter to be had?

Pagwatch · 22/02/2011 19:47

Sorry you are having a crap day op.

I honestly find if I am feeling crap I can find nothing but dullness or meanness on here. If however I am feeling ok I find the funny and the kind and the frankly bizarre.

Sometimes mn kind of reflects back to you your own state of mind iyswim.

Try some areas that are not aibu. It is a whole different world.

Habbibu · 22/02/2011 20:03

Pag's a wise old soul. Though very smooth skinned, so I hear.

Hullygully · 22/02/2011 20:04

Only for about three seconds after the razor. It grows back pretty damn quick.

lovenamechange100 · 22/02/2011 20:23

OP I think you were brave to start this thread and earlier posts proved your point but also it did discend into silly banter well not from me [moves busoms in les dawsonlike manner under kath kidson apron] IME I have been helped through pregnancy and birth, interfering women in post office situation, relationship crisis, sex drought, and recent playground issue with DS.

Hullygully · 22/02/2011 20:25
lovenamechange100 · 22/02/2011 20:30

Oh bet it was you hullygully looking for confirmation are you, yo jst dissed my watercress then buggered off earlier and never brought anything food anyways the height of bad manners.... Well I was getting served and DS interupted i was trying to send a parcel = accurate address, type of post service and enter pin. He interrupted and I told him to wait because speaking to lady quite firm and this old bag said but he was only just trying to tell you hed put rubbish in bin. I stood firm as we are trying to teach him manners.

Hullygully · 22/02/2011 20:31

Shoulda smacked her one

lovenamechange100 · 22/02/2011 20:36

hmm she was fairly old and I do have to go back there! But yes I like your spirit

GabySolis · 22/02/2011 20:38

I'm nice Smile. I haven't been posting for long, been lurking for a lot longer and only just started jumping in and posting, so nobody ever notices me lol.
I can be opinionated but always in a nice non confrontational way (I hope) Grin

littlebylittle · 22/02/2011 20:43

Have had debate, advice and huge support. Remember when really struggling after dc 2, so many it will get better posts. When had mc between dc1 and 2, lots of support. And know so much more about the range of opinions and lives that I hope I make a lit fewer sweeping statements and gaffes than I did before in RL. That said, my eyes have gone a bit funny the last few days so might need to disappear for a bit!!!

BeribbonedGibbon · 22/02/2011 20:47

VR sorry you have had a bad day. I imagine we all seem like childish twunts belittling a perfectly reasonable thread. Everyone has covered the avoid AIBU/look at other boards but I will gently say this.

You do need a sense of insanity humour to fully appreciate MN. You also need to be able to laugh at yourself. A lot.

Take Hully. She is just begging to be ridiculed on a regular basis.

I truly wish tomorrow a better day for you Smile

Habbibu · 22/02/2011 20:47

Stay nice, Gaby. Otherwise you'll be attacked by the watercress lady. I know of what I speak...

Pagwatch · 22/02/2011 20:48
Hullygully · 22/02/2011 20:49

What exactly is that, Paggy?
