to think CMs should control their children?

Childminder turned up at our toddler group today with 4 children. Within 30seconds, both of my DCs were in tears due to being knocked over by them. They then proceeded to run amock amongst the civilised play of the other children. I told here that she shouldn't bring them there if she couldn't control them. AIBU?

They're just being kids.

Biscuit

Lol at 'civilised play'.

PedlarsSockpuppet · 21/02/2011 19:23

she said sorry in a confrontational manner then told me I couldnt control my DCs Hmm, which is funny as mine are the quite shy ones!

the civilised play bit cracked me up too lol. It's like they were all playing with their jolly hockey sticks and drinking lashings of ginger beer!

PedlarsSockpuppet · 21/02/2011 19:28

civilised play = quiet and docile, non?

Numberfour · 21/02/2011 19:30

No, YANBU. I am a CM and cringe with embarrassment when I see other CMs letting their kids run riot.

worraliberty · 21/02/2011 19:31

But surely it's got nothing to do with CMs and more to do with anyone keeping control of the kids they've brought with them?

bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:31

numberfour whats the legal limit fo number of kids? are they allowed 4?

OP posts:
PedlarsSockpuppet · 21/02/2011 19:32

the numbers depend on the age of the children and what her registration permits

bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:34

Everyone else does keep their DCs under control. its just this girl who is a CM, so brings 3 plus her son.

worraliberty · 21/02/2011 19:37

Yes but you're asking AIBU to think childminders should control their children.

YABU because everyone should control the children in their care.

bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:42

the thing is everyone else does control their children in the group. This CM seems to think it accpetable to allow them to run wild hurting other children.

OP posts:
worraliberty · 21/02/2011 19:44

Then maybe I'm being pedantic but your question in your title is asking about CMs in general and not this specific one.

Answer's still the same though, everyone should be in control of the kids they're in charge of.

bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:45

she seems to have no control over them and no form of discipline. I do feel sorry for these kids, as she is locally know as the "last resort CM"

agree with you pedantic worraliberty, should probably read AIBU to think this CM should control her children?

OP posts:
MoonUnitAlpha · 21/02/2011 19:47

She's obviously doing well enough locally if all her places are filled.

bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:49

good point Beertricks, hadn't thought of that, the organisers have recently gone through the constitution process so I imagine there will be a code of conduct etc

OP posts:
bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:51

her places are filled after a year of having nothing...I suspect she has reduced her prices considerably also there aren't many CMs locally and the good ones are full.

How did they manage to knock two kids over in 30 seconds? Did they come armed with a bowling ball? Grin

bounty007 · 21/02/2011 19:59

2 of the kids came in first and knocked over my DD, at the same time her son came bounding in and pushed over DS as he had a toy her son wanted... Shock. 3 of the children (1 was a baby) spent the rest of the hour that they stayed causing fights and general disruption...its not a jolly hockeyshick group, but not that far off...
