not to lie?

Lavitabellissima · 19/02/2011 19:27

I tell the truth on mumsnet. Do you?

I understand not wanting to be outed in RL and changing minor details of your life i.e DC's names, but do people really wholehearted lie a lot?

I'm not talking about trolls, just regular mumsnetters Confused

erm, well until last year i was anonyomous on MN so i saw no reason to lie, then last year i met a few otehr MNers and they know me, not well but they know stuffa bout me, i still dont feel the ened to lie. infact, it would be stupid if i did because those other MNers would know. i dont see the ponit.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/02/2011 19:34

No, I don't lie, but I don't necessarily give out a lot of information either.

Sassybeast · 19/02/2011 19:35

Yes people lie. Lots.

'shrugs'

Jackin · 19/02/2011 19:36

I've never lied it isn't right if you are having a serious conversation to dis respect people like that.

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2011 19:54

no other than occasionally calling DS DD or whatever if I feel I am giving out too much. Rarely do that though - I am a dreadful liar.
I tend to go for vagueness.

oldraver · 19/02/2011 20:04

No I dont but like others have said I dont always give out all the info.

I always find the threads where people 'pretend' for a joke thread then eventually go... oh yes its me being silly, annoying. I would like to think I can believe everything I read but know thats not possible

I do have hangups about not telling the truth due to being accused of stealing and therefore being a liar due to the fact I wouldn't admit to it. So was constantly called a liar ie "we dont/cant believe anything you say as your a liar etc. It was sorted out about 6 months later but lying is still one of my major hates

Rindercella · 19/02/2011 20:08

Yeah, I reckon people overegg their lives. For why? Boasting, looking good (in their eyes), who knows? Pointless IMO.

Rindercella · 19/02/2011 20:09

There is so much of me on this bloody website that a satellite could pinpoint exactly where I am, right now

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2011 20:13

nice knickers Rinder, but I think they'd look better in black

MogadoredMemoo · 19/02/2011 20:19

No I never lie on MN. I am always honest about the fact that I am the love child of Johnny Cash, that I live in a mansion in Malibu and that I keep a pet crocodile in the indoor pool.

And lying makes your nose veeeeeeery long which isn't really a good look.

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2011 20:19

you have an indoor pool Envy

Jackin · 19/02/2011 20:21

and a crocodile

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2011 20:22

i have a piranah in my pool but it is an outdoor one

MogadoredMemoo · 19/02/2011 20:23

Yes, and I find that threatening the dc with a swim in the pool with the croc keeps them in check.

boosmummie · 19/02/2011 20:27

What's the point? I would hope that in RL people wouldn't stand chatting lies, so why do it on here?

taintedpaint · 19/02/2011 20:28

I don't lie, I just change a few details necessary to maintain my anonymity sometimes, so to speak. But then I, like others, have pretty good reason to not want to be found I think.

QOD · 19/02/2011 20:30

I wish I did lie, but sadly I am fat and I know a lot about surrogacy!

Bunbaker · 19/02/2011 20:32

No, I don't see the point either. I am careful about which threads I contribute to.

I don't lie any where on the Internet. What's the point?

Lavitabellissima · 19/02/2011 20:56

I don't read threads though and think oh, the OP is lying, but lots of people do.

Does that make me naive or the accusers a bit jaded/paranoid?

Mog what are you feeding your croc?

Reality, how's that working out for you? I mean, it must be hard to be sneaky when you're so well known! ::gush gush gush::

MogadoredMemoo · 19/02/2011 21:29

Oh Reality you are definitely upduffed, you can tell from some of your grumpy hormonal posts!
