to think this woman was being ridiculous

I was having my hair done yesterday and halfway through this guy came in and started having his cut. This woman then started moaning quite loudly because it is a womans salon but this guy was one of the other hairdressers brother. The woman went on for about 5 mins complaining and saying that his presence was making her uncomfortable.

YANBU - what a strange approach! If she was having her hair cut in the nude I'd get why she felt uncomfortable, or if she had religion based objections to men seeing her hair.

ENormaSnob · 19/02/2011 11:20

I though salons were unisex Confused

nortine · 19/02/2011 11:24

She didn't say she had any religious objection she just said he was making her uncomfortable.

Newgolddream · 19/02/2011 11:29

If shes that uncomfortable around men then she has some issues and a serious problem since half the world is made up of them!

If the staff heard they should have intervened.

nortine · 19/02/2011 11:35

The staff didn't intervene and she did eventually quiten down. I wouldn't mind but he was about 20 and was gorgeous

Some people just love a moan! Who was she moaning to?

squeakytoy · 19/02/2011 11:41

Ridiculous, and mental... lol...

What on earth could make her feel uncomfortable.. lol!!!

FurCoatNoNickname · 19/02/2011 11:44

How very peculiar. What sort of age was she? Not that it really matters. Did he hear her complaining?

vjg13 · 19/02/2011 11:46

Yanbu but I have a slightly odd thing going on where I only like to have my hair cut and blow-dried by a woman!

I'd rather have a male do my cervical smear than cut my hair. Grin

leandro · 19/02/2011 11:52

YANBU but some people live on a different planet to the rest of us.

DH says that barbers go straught for the clippers and cut his hair too short. he will not go, so instead gets his hair cut at a hairdressers.

it is a salon for cutting hair, not a women only club.

She is a twat and the staff should have explained that the salon was open to all and that she was being offensive about their customers.

JamieLeeCurtis · 19/02/2011 12:04

My guess would be that she's mentally ill in some way

JamieLeeCurtis · 19/02/2011 12:05

Were there male hairdressers there?

nortine · 19/02/2011 12:06

No all the hairdressers are female

Is this AIBU by stealth? Are you going to reveal that he was having his pubic hair trimed, or that she was having her pubes cut into a heart shape?

If not, SIDBU.

femalevictormeldrew · 19/02/2011 12:14

Silly woman. If she was having a bikini was, I could understand. But a haircut?

femalevictormeldrew · 19/02/2011 12:14

wax I mean

Blu · 19/02/2011 12:14

Had he come in for a Back, Crack and Sac?

It's possible that that would make me feel uncofortable. But more likely i'd be agog and stare a lot.

dawntigga · 19/02/2011 12:14

Was she having her hair cut naked by any chance?

lockets exactlt Wink

Nekked salons - you'd only get slim people and gym goers in but they'd be nice to look at!

nortine · 19/02/2011 12:15

No he was just having his haircut, he was one of the hairdressers brother. There was no pubic hair shaving.

What a weirdo, my husband has occasionally come in and waited for me in the salon before, the salon I used to go to was in the town centre and if he got bored looking in the shops he would come in and see if I was finished yet and wait if I wasn't going to be much longer. Nobody ever complained about his presence and I would have thought they were being totally unreasonable if they did, salons are public spaces, if she has that much of a problem she should get a mobile hairdresser to come and do her at home.

Firawla · 19/02/2011 18:58

unless it was a specifically women's only salon then she was just being ridiculous and a bit of a weirdo. if she had religious objection to men seeing her hair she needs to make the appropriate arrangements to go to an actual women's only place or get hair dresser to come to her house, or make a prior arrangement with the salon that she's gonna have an appointment and they'll keep it women's only for that time and shut the blinds. she can't just expect its gonna be women only then make a fuss if not, if that's not something she has checked in advance

nortine · 19/02/2011 21:16

It is a womens only place and this guy has only having his hair done because he was one of the hairdressers brother but even still I thought she was ridiculous.
