to think that my friend is being ridiculously PFP about insisting on this posh food for her little darling?

Precious First Puppy, that is...

My friend and I are both getting puppies soon, which are currently only three weeks old. She is not local, and I am liaising with the breeder/owner on her behalf.

Today, I have been given instructions to ask the lady if she will wean my friend's puppy onto a brand of food that one can only buy in the doggy equivalent of Waitrose, which is organic, omega-3 filled gluten-effing-free cordon-bleu standard canine cuisine.

I will ask, of course, but given that it will be difficult to feed the puppies separately and that the other owners are unlikely to be quite so discriminating in their choice of nourishment for their pooches, and will then have to switch their ruined little princesses onto more easily-available cheaper fare, AIBU to tell my friend she is a nitwit?

Bearing in mind that no matter how lovely, we are talking about a bloody dog- an animal which might occasionally eat its own excrement and certainly routinely rims itself for its own amusement...

Am I Being Unreasonable?

Oh also make sure whatever you feed you choose the puppy variety as it is different from the adult ones

MittzyBittzyTeenyWeeny · 19/02/2011 14:23

Just noticed this..

Oh Mouse they are beautiful dogs, how lucky are you? What does Nemo think?

There is a Jewelery shop that does amazing pet collars.

Mouseface · 19/02/2011 14:54

Hey Mittz - Nemo loves him and DD. He's not been bread as a lead dog, so he's got a good temperament.

He's daft as a brush but started to obey commands.

Well, mine, not so much DH's Grin

There is a piccy on my profile too, MN one, he's the little fluffy thing on the right, Seth. Smile

Shiney - Go Cat is really bad for older cats as SAF said, loaded with salt.

I've joined the F4D puppy club and ordered a small bag for the wolfcub Grin

Thanks for the suggestion, they have huge discounts for puppy club members.

or 'bred' Grin

Erm, hang on a minute, wasn't it someone who has posted on here telling everyone that if you had a dog, your house smelt of dog? Wink

Grin at getting a dog that won't smell.

The day we picked the wolfcub up, the breeder said, 'he's had a bath in Dove this morning, all nice and clean' Grin

Needless to say, he'll be bathed in Lidl's fine bubble bath and be happy Wink

So, when do you get your dog Shiney?

SAF - we're wooden/tiled floors here so I'm constantly mopping using Flash with a touch of Febreze Grin

MittzyBittzyTeenyWeeny · 19/02/2011 21:25

I thought it said the dog had a bath in Dover Mouse and wondered what was so special about the water there? Grin

What dog have you got SaF?

I used to recommend Chappie. We used it when i was a veterinary nurse and it tended to be kinder on the stomachs of dogs who had been starved.

I recommended it for years.

Its better than pedigree chum but its still processed crap.

I am a mean dog owner, i dont pamper them with titbits and posh food. Someone recommended a certain food and I switched to it and my gosh what a difference it has made!

My elderly terrier has had a new lease of life. His stiff joints have got better and his eczema has gone. He is honestly like a different dog.

I now feel bloody awful for feeding my dogs crap for years.

BitOfFun · 19/02/2011 21:46

Who would have thought that a thread could be so educational?

So I was being unreasonable Grin

Hey MrsDe Smile

SAF - I'll be using baby shampoo, pH neutral and all that.

Do you know, I'm half tempted to report this breeder to someone but who?

Oh MittZ Grin

Could be the touch of French in it?

I think I will give the fish4dogs a go, yes. It might be a good experiment for the older terrier too- we'll see if it transforms her into a fragrant pooch too Grin

On the shampoo front, I don't know if baby shampoo is all that great either tbh. Full of harsh SLS...

sorry, i'm sniggering about 'routinely rims itself for its own amusement...' Grin

So BOF - as Wolfcub hasn't been bathed by me yet, what would you recommend?

BitOfFun · 19/02/2011 22:13

I don't know to be honest, Mouse. I send Pepper to the doggie beauty parlour Grin
