and to find magazines like Hello,OK etc so boring that I would rather stare at blank walls for an hour while waiting in the doctors surgery.

I couldn't care less :

  • who is marrying, divorcing, shagging who.
  • about their children (except to laugh at ludicrous names)
  • where they went on holiday
  • what dress/suit was worn to what ceremony
  • who's in the fecking jungle eating worms
  • etc

I just don't get this fascination with other peoples lives just because they are famous

YANBU I am the same!

ThreIsNoSpoon · 17/02/2011 13:53

And further, I am not interested in home decoration, fashion OR makeup so I rarely read magazines at all!

Callisto · 17/02/2011 13:55

I'm with you. I also think less of people who are so caught up with sleb 'culture' and read inane, salacious rags like heat, ok, etc.

Tobytyke · 17/02/2011 13:58

Ditto - agree entirely

Never read any celeb mags etc...are people who do read such stuff 'wannabes' or just living in a fantasy world.

No interest in Royal wedding either...

dawntigga · 17/02/2011 13:58

YANBU I stand in supermarket queues bewildered at most of the names to start with and don't care about anything they do.

Doesn'tGetItTiggaxx

BertieBasset · 17/02/2011 14:00

What? Not even Cheryl Cole?!! Shock

I'm joking, but being incredibly nosy I just can't help myself if the trash mags are put in front of me.

serajen · 17/02/2011 14:01

am with you, really don't care what they're up to, have enough to cope with in my own life which isn't adorned with money and ego-based attention-seeking crap; this me, me, me stuff drives ME crazy, we live in a vaccuous image obsessed society now and it's a shame, in my humble opinion, am impressed by people of real substance and strength, not the self-promoting popular stuff people seem to idolise

oldwomaninashoe · 17/02/2011 14:02

Thank Gawd for like minded souls!

You hear far more interesting conversations on the bus than anything you are likely to read in Closer!

serajen · 17/02/2011 14:08

Ggive me a real person with a real soul anyday, the really talented (ie the wise) have no need for self-promotion, they're secure enough not to seek that. Nnot interested in following the pack at all so the fashion stuff does nothing for me either!

thumbwitch · 17/02/2011 14:10

YANBU - DH is far more gossipy than I am and bored me witless over the whole Tiger Woods shenanigans - I couldn't have cared less! Ditto any footballer or any other form of sleb. Booooorring!

Actually, I'm not that into gossping about people in RL either...

me too, who gives a flying fuck what a so called 'celeb' does or doesn't do, pisses me off no end

Mummy2Bookie · 17/02/2011 14:14

Totally agree with op. I don't give a toss either.

Ormirian · 17/02/2011 14:15

Nope. Bunch of pointless uninteresting parasites IMO.

winnybella · 17/02/2011 14:15

YANBU

Chil1234 · 17/02/2011 14:15

YANBU but, then again, are you over 30? I remember gazing lovingly at the predecessor's of such mags in my teens. There wasn't anything about the lives and loves of Duran Duran I didn't know... But we grow out of it... or at least we should do. Wink

BrokenBananaTantrum · 17/02/2011 14:17

I am in complete agreement. I am not at all interested in them. The magazines are terrible. I am shocked that people actually read that sort of crap.

But then again I like watching Buffy so ..............

NinkyNonker · 17/02/2011 14:18

Yanbu completely.

waitwhat · 17/02/2011 14:20

YANBU

Dlamis · 17/02/2011 14:26

Huray - lots of likeminded souls.

Chil1234 - def over 30 :o but I've never been into it.

Thumbwitch - maybe that's it, could never do with gossip, lunchtime office gossip used to drive me back to the desk early!

MrsSparkle · 17/02/2011 14:39

yanbu. I also don't want to read about a 20 something celebs biography either. What makes their self indulgent life more interesting then the old lady down the road? I bet the old lady has had a fascinating life, but no one would read about because hse isn't famous.

MoChan · 17/02/2011 14:45

YANBU. Can't believe how many people must waste HOURS of their LIVES reading about such dull, inconsequential crap.

mollymole · 17/02/2011 15:02

YANBU nice to hear from a likeminded soul

Jux · 17/02/2011 15:04

I don't even know who half of them are. I had to ask on here who KK was and also some other woman (some model who'd just split from her husband). These people are so utterly irrelevant to my life and have nothing to offer to me and mine. Why waste time on them.

I once had a job where the whole team would go through Hello (I think, or something like it anyway) and comment, not just on the people in it (while I was saying "oh who is she?"), but they would even look at the furniture, decor and stuff in the background of the photos and talk about that.

I once had a job where we would congregate in the smoking room and talk about books, music, philosophy, do the crossword etc. Alas! Smoking Rooms are things of the past Grin

happiernow · 17/02/2011 15:06

YANBU! I couldnt give two shits about any celeb anywhere! I have never once in my life bought one of the crappy celeb mags either and i never will.
