Victoria Beckham did she use gender selection IVF?

Saw in paper you can select sex of your baby and it's only £14,000. They have been talking about having a girl for a very long time and now it is revealed that they are!I just find it fishy! £14 grand to them is nothing and she could keep trying. AIBU?

ha ha ... If it was a matter of 'I want. I get' then surely she wouldn't have 3 sons. She would have done it years ago.

kittya · 17/02/2011 11:30

The technology wasnt there years ago and, its only recently that her good friend Elton John has had a little bit more than IVF, it might have rubbed off on her, given that she lives in LA

I wouldnt blame her if she has but, I think she might have left it to chance.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 17/02/2011 11:34

Damned if she does damned if she doesn't.
I too think it is immoral to gender select, however, if she has it is too late for anyone to worry.

5DollarShake · 17/02/2011 12:19

"I think gender selection could be dodgy in some circumstances whereby a couple would choose to abort because of sex."

What do you think happens to the embryos that aren't girls?

As for Posh, who knows? Maybe. It wouldn't surprise me, as others have said, she has form. She loves to cover up stuff that doesn't paint her in the best, most aspirational light.

As for why do people care? Get down off your high horses and read another thread if this one offends your sensibilities so much! This is a discussion forum - people will discuss shiz!

Dunno

jellybeans · 17/02/2011 12:25

I personally think that she did use gender selection. Just a hunch.

Whilst it would be nice for her to have the "longed for girl" part of me hopes she has a boy so she can stick her fingers up at all those who said she had gender selection.

Whether she did or not, if she has a girl a lot of people will take it as proof that she did.

kittya · 17/02/2011 12:37

I honestly thought that all they did was wash the sperm and seperate it? then inseminate with the female sperm.

She might not have had full on ivf, I imagine that no-one would unless they really needed it. She doesnt strike me as been that vain when it comes to her family.

I would wager that she has, fair play to her if I had the money and three boys I would do it to!! (I have three boys and a girl!, we tried for a girl!)

BitOfFun · 17/02/2011 12:49

Pmsl @ "are you Rebecca Loos?"

So- has the OP really gone to Prada? Or is she busy ranking a pug?

BitOfFun · 17/02/2011 12:53

Bloody iPhone Angry

Katz · 17/02/2011 13:10

i like Victoria Beckham - she has worked for her money, was more famous than David when they got together and i believe loves him. What I don't get is why when David allegedly had his affair with Rebecca Loos it was Victoria who was made out to be the villain.

I don't believe she's used IVF unless she had too, she has in the past said she suffers from polycystic ovaries which would make conception harder.

KATZ of course she has

But how do you compare a celebs fortune (for what you call work and some of them would disagree)

Brucie...on a chat show...first line
Not bad never having done a days work.

I liked him for the candour.

Let me put another idea up. "if you go to worked dressed to the nines, you possibly are not WORKING in the way a manual worker would use the word.

TV presenter (this week) well, we get highly paid and dont do much work (Moral Maze bloke) "Gabby"

olderandwider · 17/02/2011 17:19

Hang on, isn't IVF

  1. very invasive
  1. only has a 20% chance of success per cycle.

If VB has had IVF she has managed to keep it damn quiet.

Re sperm washing - this is also quite invasive and again carries the same success rate. So again, she would have had to make several secret visits to clinics to have the treatment. It's also only 70% reliable I think.

I neither know nor care if VB has selected the sex of her baby, but if she has I can't imagine somebody somewhere wouldn't have spilled the beans.

At the moment, it's all gossip isn't it? With a nasty tinge of spite (how dare she try and get what she wants when she has so much already).

I really hope it's a girl. Just to see what they call her. Grin.

GabbyLoggon · 17/02/2011 18:04

G.Y Put her IVF on the net. Said she would not have fancied doing it 7 times. Hubby pannicked in hosp when massive bleeding occured. (all on the Net.) Has lovely twins.

GabbyLoggon · 17/02/2011 18:13

I rather like posh more than David.

I admire him as a tireless player but not as a role model

Posh seems a bit haunted; yet she is good in rare interviews

I think it must be difficult married to a chap who fuels a rumour machine.

Hes done well out of it; but it seems
so much trivia. (Hollywoodesque) Living your life for the media; you manipulate them and they manipulate you. (The Tabs usually win)

I bet the N.O>W have tried to set traps. Not that sheik again "Gabby"

olderandwider · 17/02/2011 19:21

Who or what is G.Y ?

lovechoc · 17/02/2011 19:36

I'm afraid it does seem like they were trying for a girl (I know families locally that do this if they get so many of the one gender first they try for the other). As for gender selection, I doubt it.

And if no one really gave a toss, and genuinely did mind their own business on this topic, no one would have replied to it!! Oh but wait...there are five pages of replies. We all must really really care about the Beckham's private life so much.

SoupDragon · 17/02/2011 20:03

How does it seem they were trying for a girl?

WassaAxolotl · 17/02/2011 20:16

Victoria Beckham is probably getting so fed up with the speculation about gender selection that she'll have a fifth child if this one is a girl, just to prove a point.
