Victoria Beckham did she use gender selection IVF?

Saw in paper you can select sex of your baby and it's only £14,000. They have been talking about having a girl for a very long time and now it is revealed that they are!I just find it fishy! £14 grand to them is nothing and she could keep trying. AIBU?

If they did, that would be their private business and none of yours. Why do you care what celebrities do? Have you nothing better tonthink about?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 16/02/2011 17:52

No idea and couldn't care less.

frankie3 · 16/02/2011 17:57

I think everyone is being very unfair to the OP. What is wrong with speculating on this? It is quite probable that she has selected the sex, she has been interviewed for years saying she wants a girl. I don't think it is BU to suggest this, as it was not being done in a bitchy way.

In her case I think I would opt for gender selection. She has three beautiful boys; another boy would be great but a little girl would be amaaaazing. Think of the outfits!
[shallow emoticon]

I think gender selection could be dodgy in some circumstances whereby a couple would choose to abort because of sex.

Northernlurker · 16/02/2011 18:41

It's nobody's business what she has or hasn't done. The decision to have another child is between her and her husband and like every parent their primary goal (haha) is to have a healthy baby and a healthy mum.

The chances are always 50-50 wth 1 x and 1 y chromosome they can't be anything else. However there are more boys than girls - why I cannot say.

EmmaBGoode · 16/02/2011 19:09

Why are people so nasty towards Victoria Beckham? It just smacks of jealousy if you ask me.

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/02/2011 19:27

It doesn't really matter if she has had gender selection IVF I don't think. If she was that desparate for a girl, after 3 boys I wouldn't blame her if she did have a bit of help.

I think she has earned her money - she was wealthier than her husband when they met, and has worked ever since. Everyone laughed at her when she said she was going to be a fashion designer - but she is a very succesful (albeit derivative) fashion designer. And I think she probably works hard. Good on her.

I like VB and have NO idea why she inspires such vitriol in people.

I'd like to add something practical but I didn't know gender selection IVF existed... Blush

Either way, I doubt anyone will ever find out if she did or didn't & it doesn't really matter...

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/02/2011 19:59

Yes true Leq - god knows why she denied her implants when for years it looked like she had smuggled the Mitchell brothers in her dress.

She looks so much better now - saw in Grazia today old pictures of her when she was in full WAG getup (all Cavalli, hair and tits) and looked rather ropey. She looks great now I think.

ImFab · 16/02/2011 20:15

More boys than girls are born but apparently more boys die young than girls.

I neither kno nor care (molesworth)

minxofmancunia · 16/02/2011 20:59

I'm afraid I agree with LeQ she speaks the facts.

She denies things that are patently obvious, she is just a bit too "try hard" and I find it worrying that a woman who clearly has a body image/eating disorder emulated so widely. She's contributed to the normalisation of size zero, she's an unhealthy weight and it's seeped into our collective consciousness. And no I'm not jealous, I'm a size 8-10 myself achieved partly through a balanced diet and exercise, not starvation "controlled" eating. I also work with eating disorders and have attended several training events run by experts, they are not fans.

Yes she's a grafter, and stylish but Roland Mouret "helps" her, quite a lot.

As for her baby, I'm just glad she had a high enough BMI to get pregnant! I'd have 4 if I had her cash, children are fantastic when you take away all the crappy drudgery that she's able to pay for.

kittya · 16/02/2011 21:00

Gosh, dont some people like to stir on here these days? its getting worse. All this third hand gossip that cant be proved.

I personally dont give a toss whether they chose gender selection or not, it wont impact my life. I like them both. I know people that have had encounters with both of them separately and as a family and I have not once heard anything bad said about them. All Ive heard is how lovely and friendly they are. How they do so much for charity that never get spoken about and how charming their three boys are.

Im sure they just want what we all do, a healthy baby.

Back to the IVF gender selection, I thought it was just a simple procedure of sperm washing I didnt realise it was full IVF, I cant imagine any one would volutarily go through IVF for vanity.

Foreverondiet · 16/02/2011 21:03

I bet she did its legal in LA and money is no object, but so what, and they will never ever tell.

twinterror · 16/02/2011 21:07

...and why is it a problem if they did?

...and why is it anyone else's business?...

and why is this something for other people to be indignant about

and who cares anyway?

RuthChan · 16/02/2011 21:07

She did an interview on American TV in the last couple of days in which she denied even knowing the sex of the baby.
She said it was wierd that the tabloids are claiming to know which it is as they don't know themselves.
She also said that they haven't yet decided whether to find out which it is before the birth.
It's up to you to decide whether or not you believe her.

kittya · 16/02/2011 21:11

I believe here. I dont think she would lie about it.

CPtart · 16/02/2011 21:11

Course she did....but they'll never admit it. Just like she never had breast implants a few years ago!!

allatsea1 · 16/02/2011 21:16

I would bet my life that they have selected the sex. But she would NEVER admit it - just like she has never admitted to having a boob job.

EmmaBemma · 16/02/2011 21:18

jesus christ. WHO CARES?
