to think that Secret Diary of a Call Girl is a disgraceful pile of wank and Billie Piper should have a word witrh herself.

I mean honestly. It is awful. The gleeful life of a prostitute.

The ads are all over the place on TV and in magazines and Billie Piper is about as sexy as my big toe.

It's a ghastly programme and I wish it wasn't on.

I know I don't have to watch it (I don't) but think crap glamorising the life of a prostitute has no place on prime time telly, frankly

I don't know what the hell Billie Piper has done with her mouth, she seems to be all teeth. Sure she never use to be like that.

I wasn't commenting on her attractiveness at all LRD - more like her pouty looks in those ads are completely NOT sexy (she looks dead eyed imo) as it is supposed to be a 'sexy' show.

I think she is a pretty girl - however trussed up like a christmas turkey for those ads she doesn't look comfortable.

I wonder if she is proud of that role or is rather horrified by it - I read that she filmed a scene for lats year's series (where she had to make farmyard animal noises whilst having sex with a client) and felt shamfaced at the possibility of her husband or son seeing it one day.

I think she is a talented actress to be fair and it is a shame to see her in such a SHIT role.

Ok, to me 'sexiness' and 'attractiveness' are part of the same thing, but that's not the point. It seems odd that you're criticizing her for not being sexy enough - surely, if you think it's wrong to glamourize prostitution, it's worse if she looks sexy, not better?

I'm just slightly confused and most of the replies are also 'ooh she's ugly' comments.

Agreed. Just perpetuates the happy hooker myth and glamourises prostitution plus is generally predictable and cliched to boot.

Oh, you sleep with old men for money? How empowering. And make witty comments about it afterwards? Well, that definitely restores the power balance. Well done, you!

LRD - sorry if it came across that way, it was genuinely not meant as a 'let's knock BP's looks' thread and I can see that I worded it badly.

I think personally that she just doesn't suit the acting sexy bit, and she looks uncomfortable in those sexy poses. I thinkl it comes across that her heart isn't in it (hence 'have a word with yourself' - she should have given up the role yonks ago if she wasn't happy).

Of cousre she could be delighted with the whole thing and I am talking bollocks, however what she said in that interview I mentioned above seemed rather telling.

I thought she was a strange choice for that role - personally I think she is gorgeous but she's very girl-next-door, too.

I heard that the old ladies hate her since her OH is 'that nice young man from Lewis' and she plays a prostitute...

I always think she seems lovely, and I think this is the last season so at least she will not be doing this forever.

I don't think it's suitable maryz. Some of the stuff they show is pretty explicit. The episodes I've watched anyway.

I found it uncomfortable viewing. Articulate though she may be, that woman has the demeanour of a hunted animal, constantly on the defensive which undermines her "proud of my past" posturing entirely.

BP seemed to question her from a perspective of incredibility, going for an innocent, friendly approach and appearing mock-scandalised by some of the answers, almost trying to distance herself from the real and therefore undesirable aspects of being a prostitute although she is happy to play the fantasy in the series.

I fell off the sofa laughing at the series where BP was pregnant in RL and spent the while series in heavy drapery and hiding her belly behind household objects.

Haven't been able to watch it since.

Complete (and faintly embarrassing) tosh.

i think BP is gorgeous. although as someone said she looks "all teeth" and i think it's cos she's lost loads of weight. i still think she's beautiful though :)

but YANBU - i absolutely HATE the thought of the show. i think i watched part of the first episode and switched off.
