If you were formula fed, you are probably, thick, fat and/or dead/on your last legs by now.

If you were breastfed, you are probably highly intelligent, with supermodel looks and are 125/going to reach 125 (but only if you were EBF until you were 16).

AIBU?

Yes, I know a thread about a thread but I could not resist.

lospolloshermanos · 15/02/2011 23:57

brightcopperkettles · 15/02/2011 23:58

BF for 14 months as were my 3 sisters. Currently BF my 12 month old.

Size 8, averagely intelligent, averagely attractive :).

scottishmummy · 16/02/2011 00:00

MissyKLo,no one catches diabetes from formula.that is absolute nonsense.its an endocrinology imbalance

RueLaChesty · 16/02/2011 01:15

BF for 6 days, formula fed for 3 weeks then onto cows milk at 4 weeks old! i have terrible exczema and am probably about 3 stone overweight at the moment.

My mum says if she knew then what she knows now she'd have persevered with BF. But my older brother used to bang his head on the wall if she fed me, so she stopped. He's always been a fecker!! Grin

redpanda13 · 16/02/2011 01:50

FF my mum thought BF was disgusting. I have a degree but I am overweight. Less to do with FF and more to do with Monster Munch. Not that bonnie but that is because I look like my dad. My mum could have had me on her tit for life and my looks would have been the same.

I BF DD and my mum now thinks it is lovely. She is open to change. What I never told anyone though for fear of being thought shallow was I did it mainly because I thought it would keep me thin Blush

CountBapula · 16/02/2011 02:36

My brother was a screamy, non-sleeping baby. The HV told my mum he wasn't getting enough milk and pressured her into switching to formula, which she did eventually. My brother remained screamy and non-sleeping, except now he screamed for longer because he had to wait for my mum to prepare his bottle in the middle of the night.

Two years later I came along - another noisy insomniac. My mum was determined to BF and had read Breast is Best etc. The midwife insisted I was hungry and mum didn't have enough, and gave me a bottle of formula. I promptly vomited it back up all over. I had no more formula and was BF until I was two.

I am academically bright and a size 8 (or was before I had DS, who is EBF at nearly 5 months and - you guessed it - a non-sleeping screamer). My bro is bright and skinny as a rake. Also, he hardly ever gets colds and is never off sick etc. My immune system is crap Blush

C0FFEE · 16/02/2011 02:40

I have no idea, can't remember but guessing formula by how I turned out!

Morloth · 16/02/2011 03:37

BFd, we are all in excellent health with my elder sister being in her 50s now. All successful careers and well bala, all have BFd there own children.

All until about a year I think. I got fat in my teens/20s but that was lifestyle related and is sorted now.

My mum had no choice but to BFd, there was no formula in anycase.

Does my anecdata beat your anecdata?

MissyKLo · 16/02/2011 04:17

For those who were bf but have eczema etc

  • your eczema would have been worse without breast milk'
Bubbaluv · 16/02/2011 04:29

On what basis do you make that claim MissyKlo?
Not that I can dispute it, but how can anyone test that theory?

5DollarShake · 16/02/2011 05:31

Both my brother and I were BF - back in the early 70s, when it really wasn't the done thing. DM said anyone with half a brain cell could see that breast milk was best for human babies, and she got lots of support from LLL. This was in NZ.

We're both tall, slim, degree educated and never get sick.. Bfed both of mine.

5DollarShake · 16/02/2011 05:34

Why are people going on about their attractiveness? Hmm

You do realise this was determined well before anyone put a boob in your mouth or not?! Grin

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 16/02/2011 05:38

Because it was in the OP?

BF for four months, then switched to FF at the insistence of the midwives who convinced my mother that it would solve my "colic".

It did not, in case anyone was wondering.

Wordsonascreen · 16/02/2011 05:40

I have no idea (and don't really care tbh)

KristinaM · 16/02/2011 06:15

I was ff

And I am indeed fat and thick. And I have several atopic diseases, including asthma

Wish I had been bf

elizadoestoomuch · 16/02/2011 06:27

Sad I don't know if I was FF or BF. My DM passed away years ago (when I was young so the conversation never came up)and my DF says he can't remember Sad

GotArt · 16/02/2011 06:30

I was BF for 6 weeks, FF for a few more but then put on rice cereal and pureed meat at 3 months, eggs at 4 months and so on. Knowing what I know now about baby's intestines not ready for food that young, I chalk up my bowel problems to that. Never was sick though. Was thin until 18, then moved out, ate fast food more often than not, gained about 100lbs, lost it a few years later and now and thin again but still rarely get sick. DD was BF until 20 months, never was sick until then but fights off colds very well. Am intelligent, post graduate degree, was accepted to Oxford but chose Central Saint Martin's.

MissyKLo · 16/02/2011 06:48

Bubba

I was BF for 2 weeks, but my mum found it hard to keep up with me (I was 10lbs!) so she switched.

I'm now 6ft tall, got a PhD and slim (now I've finally shifted my last few baby pounds!).

From reading the posts on this thread there seems to be little correlation between our perceptions of our intelligence/weight and whether we were BF/FF.

cory · 16/02/2011 08:35

I was bf, my mum was bf, my granddad no doubt was bf. We all have/had high blood pressure because it runs in the family and all have a tendency to get frequent colds. But we are reasonably bright and only put on weight if we overeat. But then there is no knowing what we might have been like on formula.

Dd is possibly the unhealthiest child I have ever known- she was breastfed until 11 months, but was malnourished for part of that time, because the same condition which knocks her general health back also made it difficult for her to feed.

Laska · 16/02/2011 08:35

Breastfed for 14m I think (wouldn't take a bottle) and am a size 10 8.5st when not pregnant.

wordfactory · 16/02/2011 08:37

FF from birth.

Perfectly healthy, intelligent and no weight problem.

I do believe that breast is best, without a shadow of a doubt, but I remain unconvinced that FF is very much further behind taking other genetic and environmental factors into account.

melikalikimaka · 16/02/2011 08:44

FF from birth, was last of five kids, shocked when I found out from Mom, she'd had enough! I am a bit overweight Sad I'd like to think I have got a brain, but mental block with maths!
