One of my oldest friends fionce has just come out of prison.

AIBU for not wanting to be seen or assoisated with him as I know that some dangerous people are after him now.

Seriously considering not going to there wedding now aswell.

It would be mean of you to stop being friends with someone because of their partner, can't you still her her and just avoid him?

It does depend what he has been inside for though, as if your friend is effectively condoning him doing something terrible, I wouldn't want to be friends with someone like that.

ShirleyKnot · 14/02/2011 16:19

I bet he was a GRASS

wishingchair · 14/02/2011 16:19

As long as you accept that if you don't want to be associated with him, you can't still be friends with your friend ...

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 14/02/2011 16:20

What do you think will happen at the wedding?

If he was in for persistent non-payment of canhncil tax you should consider leaving the country as his associates will probably come after YOU now.

ShirleyKnot · 14/02/2011 16:31

It's sad that you'll probably lose your friend over this, but YANBU to not want to be involved with This Sort Of Person. I wouldn't either TBH.

bupcakesandcunting · 14/02/2011 16:34

Yeah right Shirl'. We all know that when you stopped posting between 2007-2009, you were banged up.

TotemPole · 14/02/2011 16:39

Has he done this sort of thing before?

Is it his lifestyle or did he get caught up in something on a one off occasion?

EenieMeenieMineiMo · 14/02/2011 16:42

Im not sure totem pole i try not to get involved as b4 he went inside he was very much into drugs.

TBH even if it was a one of occasion. The question i need to ask myself do i want to be associated with some1 who slashed a guys face with a knife!

solooovely · 14/02/2011 16:43

GBH is nasty! I wouldn't want to hand out with someone who was capable of something like that anyway, even if he didn't have people after him.

OhForBoonessSake · 14/02/2011 16:45

i wouldn't want to be friends with him either TBH.

TotemPole · 14/02/2011 16:50

Do you think you should try to persuade your friend to not marry him?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 14/02/2011 16:50

If you have genuine reason to believe that being in his company may pose a risk to you as people are 'after him' and if you happen to be there when they find him, they may turn on you too, then I don't blame you for wanting to stay away. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would do otherwise.

I also would not want to have anything to do with someone who slashed someone's face with a knife. - unless they were in fear of their life and used the knife to defend themselves of course. but it doesn't sound like that's the case here anyway.
