.. My darling and generous DH 'forgot' my presents. Apparently they are all in his desk at work. FFS.. At least this year I was clever, and give his nice presents to him this morning, so he knew what he had to match/live up to.
Anyone else get nothing? Oh, and if you DID get thoughtful and expensive presents.. Don't come here and gloat.Envy

Naff all. We haven't done valentines for years as its a nonsense really. Although I wouldn't have minded some surprise flowers!!

YetiOnAJetty · 14/02/2011 20:08

My dh did not get me' the Alex Monroe bumblebee necklace that I first saw on here a few weeks ago and have been coveting ever since..... So I went and bought it for myself.

NorthernGobshite · 14/02/2011 20:08

Yeti, I like your style!

happiestblonde · 14/02/2011 20:09

Yeah but I'm so over scandal after the few months we've had :(

Good work yeti

YetiOnAJetty · 14/02/2011 21:13

Thanyou ladies... In fact the cheeky fecker sent me' a message this morning and kindly told me' to go and buy myself (himself) some nice underwear. And would you just believe it, I couldn't find ANYTHING at all in my size! So thought I would just please myself and get something I really really wanted. Will thank him tonight, though.Am not complaining about him, he is really a lovely man, I am very lucky.

Curiousmama · 16/02/2011 09:36

happiestblonde, did you find out who the roses were from? Sorry you've had a bad few months, hope you're ok now?

Yeti glad you got something you wanted Smile

My DH bought me a pig clock and a pink air horn for my bike. Ahem? Why?

I got him flowers & chocolates cos I know it's the only way I'd get any.

I hate this day of the year. My closest friend was given a bouquet, and taken out for a meal & a walk by the canal. Another was taken out to the seaside for a romantic meal by her new man.

I've been waiting 20 years now for DH to do something romantic & I get a clock with googly eyes & a horn. Not holding out much hope for next 20 years.

I feel unloved & just want him to make a fuss of me sometimes, it's like he really doesn't see that I need some more obvious signs that he loves me?

realgonekid84 · 15/02/2015 21:20

well last year (d)h got me nothing. He forgot. I got him a card which he couldn't even be bothered to open. This year I got a chinese takeaway. He also told me to buy myself some chocs as he would get wrong ones. We have been together 17 years and I hate nuts so he got me toberone from his last work jolly. (his favourite not mine) The card from last year is still on the coffee table unopened. Think he was lazing around upstairs both this morning and yesterday morning hoping I would slip away upstairs for sex
Why he can't see I would be more in the mood if I got a lie in for once at the weekend.

Gruntfuttock · 15/02/2015 21:30

WotchOotErAPolis Why on earth would you first find and then decide to resurrect a 4 yr old thread? Confused

realgonekid84 · 15/02/2015 21:31

oops. didn't notice that.

Dowser · 15/02/2015 21:41

Awww. Leave this where he can read it.

We make our own crystal jewellery and I suggested he buy a strand of beautiful cut lavender amethyst beads and knot them into a necklace and a bracelet for me( although I am equally capable of making them myself.)

I got a very nice card and then as we were wandering through a big shopping centre he asked me if I'd like some perfume.

So naturally I said yes that would be very nice. So came out with a bottle of Hermes Caleche tucked in my bag.

When we got back to the hotel there was a nice bar of dark chocolate with orange pieces.

So, yes very well spoiled.

I would have been just as happy with a soppy card.

People get presents for valentine day? Why?

esiotrot2015 · 15/02/2015 21:47

Why are people so surprised people buy each other stuff for Valentine's Day !
It's in the shop windows and all over the tv
People must buy stuff if they wouldn't advertise it !

esiotrot2015 · 15/02/2015 21:47

or they wouldn't advertise it

Littlef00t · 15/02/2015 21:55

My DH didnt get me anything as we don't really do valentines (I got flowers last wk after crap week at work), but he made the kitchen sparkle, two loads of washing up etc without being asked. Far better than a thoughtless present. I found his wedding cuff links he thought he'd lost forever, a £1 card and £2 tulips, yummy dinner. So easy to do valentines on a budget.

londonrach · 15/02/2015 22:02

Esio its a marketing thing i thought to try (nothing more), never realised people bought into it. No one i know gets more than flowers, card and possible one or other cooking tea. Didnt realise people did more than that!!!! Tbh id rather have dh being dh all year rather than one day. Thats including his bad points and good points!

MojaveWanderer123 · 15/02/2015 22:28

My wedding anniversary is on Valentine's Day so it's easily all rolled into one. Last year we went away for the weekend and did lovey dovey meals and walks with lots of gifts and romantic stuff. This year we stayed at home and played video games online with the kids and had such a laugh that I actually preferred it. Didn't get any presents but my husband bought me a new car late last year which is all this years presents rolled into one. I did miss my usual bunch of roses though although he did get me tulips this morning which was nice. I text my mum last to tell her I was finally cleaning the oven and my mum wet herself laughing saying of all the nights to finally do that horrible job I picked valentines. Wink

Gruntfuttock · 15/02/2015 22:31

Sorry, but I STILL want to know the thinking behind searching for an old thread and then resurrecting one that is 4 years old. Why not just start a new one if the subject is so important to you? If I couldn't see a current thread on the subject I wanted to discuss I'd start one.

Scrumbled · 15/02/2015 23:13

We both forgot until we went into town with the kids and tried to find somewhere for lunch and wndered why everywhere was heaving.

We did find somewhere and eventually all the red balloons made us twig.

After that we had fun looking at all the couples with babies and toddlers trying to have a nice valentines lunch. I wish we had smart
phones with Peppa Pig when ours were tiny. I did find the sight of so many babies sweet but not enough to ever want to go back there again.

My dp then later got some chocolates from the shop when he had to get bread, the children didnt manage to eat them all.
