Ok, bit tongue in cheek really, just realised I could do my first ever AIBU :o

I just nearly fell off my chair when I heard one of the characters say Bloomin' 'eck, DS is totally oblivious!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to start ringing points of view, I don't think DS will be scarred for life and I don't think it's a proper swear word but I do wonder if it was really necessary, although I do love a bit of hidden innuendo in kids shows!!

It was proper Fireman Sam, not the new cartoon version!

Great fires of London!!

Sorry, couldn't help myself Grin

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 11/02/2011 13:06

Leaping lizards? Grin

You should call POV!

2cats2many · 11/02/2011 13:07

I think the old ones are really funny. Far more sophisticated than the new cartoon version. Trevor the Bus is particularly comedic.

BTW- I have a Fireman Sam obsessive in the house.

HeroShrew · 11/02/2011 13:11

My 19mo is currently rampaging around the house shouting "buggerbuggerbuggerbuggerbuggerbugger"

Now, seeing as I never hardly ever swear in front of him, I am relieved to hear that I can blame Fireman Sam. Hence - YABU. Grin

OldToothbrush · 11/02/2011 13:14

Well Bust my Buffers

mommmmyof2 · 11/02/2011 13:17

oh norman

thehairybabysmum · 11/02/2011 13:30

Agree the old ones are fab including the very mild exclamations!!

My DS2 who is 3 (and is obsessed with it also) said the other day about something 'that's a splendid idea' a la Station Officer Steele.

Not sure ive heard bugger on FS though heroshrew Grin

llareggub · 11/02/2011 13:33

My DS sounds just like Station Officer Steel. I love old Fireman Sam, or Sam Tan as I remember it from my childhood.

llareggub · 11/02/2011 13:34

You can watch all of the old series on Love Film through your playstation if you have a Love Film sub.

QuestionNumber · 11/02/2011 13:36

YANBU. There are plenty of milder exclamations more suitable for a children's programme.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/02/2011 13:39

Never mind the mild swearing, that little shit Norman Price needs locking up Grin

It's not my fault ..............

TheVisitor · 11/02/2011 13:40

Bloomin' 'eck isn't swearing. It's just a mild exclamation. Grin

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 11/02/2011 13:45

I don't like it - I don't like them saying anything I wouldn't want a toddler repeating and call me old fashioned possum, but I woudn't want a toddler running around saying 'Bloomin' heck!'

Mind you as it's Fireman Sam it could have been worse - he could have said 'Flaming hell' Grin

I bet it was Norman - he's a right little shit obnoxious git twerp sod. Horrid horrid child.

ThePosieParker · 11/02/2011 13:47

It was when Elvis said 'Fuck me' that I really objected too.

JamieLeeCurtis · 11/02/2011 13:47

Darn You. Darn you to Heck!!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/02/2011 13:48

I think I have missed something... Hmm What are the origins of 'Bloomin' 'eck' then?

JamieLeeCurtis · 11/02/2011 13:50

Heck comes from Hell - blasphemy apparently. I have no problem with it myself .....

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/02/2011 13:50

Oh I see.

Nor I. :o

MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 13:51

To be fair to Sam and crew I was more shocked/offended when DS2 (he's just three and Fireman Sam obsessed too THBM, don't remember DS1 being like this!) said "stop talking mum, you're hurting my ears" Shock

TheVisitor I know it's not actually swearing, just fitted better in title! :o

Proper Fireman Sam (and Postman Pat) all the way in this house! We watched a new one the other day, there was no Bella Shock

OP posts:
MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 13:55

Just to clarify, I wasn't offended by it, and don't really have a problem with it, it just took me by surprise!

ChippingIn No it wasn't Norman, how has he not got an ASBO or something, he is indeed a little shit, it was a man, not sure who, I wasn't watching that intently!

OP posts:
YeahBut · 11/02/2011 13:55

In the words of the original Dilys, "There's no need to get historical." Bloomin' heck is not swearing!
BTW, does anyone else think that the new CGI Fireman Sam is an utter abomination? Horrid, squeaky voices and not nearly as entertaining as the originals. Where has Bella gone? Why does Dilys not say things like, "I'm absolutely putrefied!" anymore?

LuigiB · 11/02/2011 13:56

MrsTicklemouse - I am also wondering what happened to Bella... You can still see her shop on there but she's not in the program.

Ds (4)says to me "Yes mum" in a Norman Price to Dyllis sarcastic way when I am trying to nag him to do something Grin.

I also agree that the old ones were a lot better than the new ones - they just seem a bit sterile or something.

MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 14:01

Oooh First AIBU, and heading towards first flaming, where's Fireman Sam when you need him!!! As I said,it's a very tongue in cheek post!!

Exactly YeahBut the theme tune's changed too, I don't like it at all. We have proper Fireman Sam on series link!!

OP posts:
MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 14:03

LuigiB I was so offended, more so than the 'swearing' :o, by the new Fireman Sam I had to consult Wikipedia!!!

MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 14:04
