Ok, bit tongue in cheek really, just realised I could do my first ever AIBU :o

I just nearly fell off my chair when I heard one of the characters say Bloomin' 'eck, DS is totally oblivious!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to start ringing points of view, I don't think DS will be scarred for life and I don't think it's a proper swear word but I do wonder if it was really necessary, although I do love a bit of hidden innuendo in kids shows!!

It was proper Fireman Sam, not the new cartoon version!

You wouldn't like Fifi and the Flowertots then. It's all "Jumping geraniums!" and "Diddly dandelions!" Shock Blush

The musician who played the organ at our wedding (in one of Pontypandy's namesake towns) composed the theme tune to old Fireman Sam.

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 11/02/2011 14:47

I wouldn't mind a toddler running around saying Jumping Geraniums or Diddly Dandelions Grin

I know Bloomin' Heck isn't swearing - but it's just not a nice thing to hear a toddler saying is it? There's nothing wrong with a good 'Oh no!' at that age.

MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 14:51

sausagerollmodel I have on occasion managed to save myself from actually swearing in front of the DCs with 'fiddling flowersticks' a la Fifi Blush

As I say the post was really in jest, I think it was the gruff voice that took me by surprise, if it had been Dylis or someone I probably wouldn't have even noticed!

My 2 year old quite often exclaims 'Mamma Mia!' at the top of his voice, which I think is from Roary the Racing car

FreakoidOrganisoid · 11/02/2011 14:56

My two go around saying "oh bonkers" when they drop something which I assumed was them mishearing me saying bollocks Blush but then I heard it on chuggington.

headfairy · 11/02/2011 14:59

don't they say Bumpers on Chugginton?

ds's favourite is cinders and ashes and Great Fires of London said in a perfect welsh accent :o

JamieLeeCurtis · 11/02/2011 15:00

My 10 year old says Bloody Hell! quite a lot, because Ron Weasley says it, in the Harry Potter films ..... Now it's not really much skin off my nose, but I do have to remind him the outside world may not approve ..

FreakoidOrganisoid · 11/02/2011 15:02

Oh maybe Blush

MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 15:02

That's what I thought ChippingIn if one of the DSs (5 and 3) had said it I don't think I'd have been amused, and there is like you say nothing wrong with Oh no, or even a Fifi style comment

cryhavoc that's definitely worth a name check!

Well I remember (showing my age here Blush) the old Batman programmes with Burt Ward and Adam West where Robin was always saying things like "Holy goldfish Batman!" and as a child I though that was swearing.
