Thank God for this man walking past...but really shouldn't all parents be thinking hard about having these kind of dogs in the home?

?

fookinell · 10/02/2011 11:55

We shouldnt blame the dogs, it is the owners of dogs that are at fault...

MrSpoc · 10/02/2011 11:57

what is the story, i cannot see it.

Anyway it is not the dogs that are the problem but bad owners, no training no understanding.

There are certain dogs that you should have a licence for but i hate ill informed people who get Staffies (Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier) mixed up with Pitbulls etc. they are not the same.

Staffies are regarded as the best, safest dog for children. they are called nanny dogs.

I think the dogs are the problem too.

You can't make that sort of generalisation about a whole breed, very silly.

pascoe28 · 10/02/2011 12:04

It is a shame that some of the least capable of people seek to make up for their inadequacies by acquiring potentially violent animals.

Then again, the same can be said for their siring children...though at least we don't pay them to own dangerous dogs!

horrible sotry, thank god Mr Alhadi he is a true hero.

But the dog is not to blame. Why was the dog in a small flat. why was the boys playing in the hall with it?

It is the owners fault. these dogs need lots of space.

mrsruffallo · 10/02/2011 12:08

No, it's very silly to keep a dog as powerful as this around young children, I don't care how vigilant you are, it's irresponsible

MrSpoc · 10/02/2011 12:09

RealityIsKnockedUp - staffies are regarded as nannie dogs by all dog experts.

You can even get a little chiwawa who would go berserk. its all about training, understanding and being able to read the signs.

Just by looking at a gods ear position can give you an understanding of thier mood.

MrSpoc · 10/02/2011 12:10

cats are far worse and evil little bastards.

BuzzLiteBeer · 10/02/2011 12:12

chihuahua's can't rip your face off though.

MrSpoc Agree about cats, spikey little fuckers.

mrsruffallo · 10/02/2011 12:17

No parent can have the time to check a dogs ear position though.
Just don't have one of these types of dog while your children are little

fishie · 10/02/2011 12:21

i don't think it was his house. I live fairly near there and there are loads of pitbull type dogs around, NOT staffs although there are plenty of them as well.

It is all v scary and nothing much seems to be done about any sort of enforcement.

JamieLeeCurtis · 10/02/2011 12:23

The are reeeelly uggerly dogs as well. I honestly can't see the attraction

bupcakesandcunting · 10/02/2011 12:23

"You can even get a little chiwawa who would go berserk."

TBF, you could punt a chichuahua across the room like a rugby ball if it tried anything shady. Couldn't do that with a Staffy.

JamieLeeCurtis · 10/02/2011 12:23

they

NinkyNonker · 10/02/2011 12:26

We have a Staffie cross in the house with our small baby. We're far from stupid.

mmmitsdelicious · 10/02/2011 12:26

You can't trust any dog with a child, they're animals after all.
That's why I would never have one in the house.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 10/02/2011 12:27

Main difference between cats and dogs is that if a child hassles a cat, she'll give the child a bite and/or a scratch (at worse) and then piss off somewhere.

I wouldn't leave a 7yo alone with any dog tbh - but wtf were his parents doing leaving him with a pitbull?

curlymama · 10/02/2011 12:31

Bull terriers are one of the only breeds the kennel club reccommends as being suitable for families with children.

Any dog is capable of awful things, but being predudice about a breed of dog is as ignorant as being predudice against a certain race of human. You can't accurately judge a person because of the country they come from, and you can't accurately judge a dog because of it's breed.
