They were "Light Choice" one whatever the fuck that means.
Anyone else gorge on them like a nice hot cross bun or 5 when Spring has sprung?

Abso-bloody-lutely and with loads of proper butter too Wink

TurkeyBurgerThing · 07/02/2011 14:17

I would if I was a size 10!

kittycat37 · 07/02/2011 14:17

I would gorge on them if I had any in the house but not the 'light choice' - that's for dieters isn't it?

bubbleOseven · 07/02/2011 14:18

4?

seriously?

thats 700 calories, not including the butter

Grin
MorticiaAddams · 07/02/2011 14:18

Ooh yes but not light choice and with lots of real butter.

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 07/02/2011 14:19

Just brought 2 packs from M&S - will have for brekky tomorrow if they make it through the day :)

But now you've reminded me ............

SunshineOnARainyDay · 07/02/2011 14:19

I haven't bought any yet because as soon as I do I will eat the entire packet! What is it with hot cross buns that you can never only eat just one???

GloriaSmut · 07/02/2011 14:20

"Light Choice"? I'd be adding the calories up and crossing dinner off the agenda because 4 hot cross buns aren't any sort of "light choice". Especially buttered!

(They're still delicious though!)

Mists · 07/02/2011 14:20

Oh is it that time of year already? Marvellous! I usually complain about Hallowe'en in September and Christmas in October but bring on the hot cross buns I say. YANBU.

GloriaSmut · 07/02/2011 14:21

Actually, no. It isn't that time of the year. Nowhere near. But I'm prepared to pretend that Imbolc is a perfectly good justification for the scoffing of hot cross buns.

MmeLindt · 07/02/2011 14:22

YABVU
I cannot buy them here. Might make some tomorrow though, now you have me thinking of them.

Ooopsadaisy · 07/02/2011 14:23

YA only BU if you don't share the rest with me!

I love hot x buns!

I wouldn't have bothered with "light choice" though!

I think you were very restrained to stop at 4.

looblylu · 07/02/2011 14:23

i once ate a pack of 6 cherry scones...
I still feel a bit disgusting just thinking about it...

But i know i'd do it again Wink

Pesha · 07/02/2011 14:25

Ooh I NEED a hot cross bun now!! Heated in the oven so its crisp on the outside but still soft and fluffy on the inside so the mountains of proper butter melts into it.

Shall have to tell dp its a pregnancy craving and get him to call into the supermarket on his way back from the airport!

BuzzLightBeer · 07/02/2011 14:26

700 calories? Shock That sounds like a lot.

180 cals each, thats what... 720? Bugger, and there was a lot of butter too. It was 2 earlier and 2 just now, not a whole plate of four together that will be tomorrow.

I had a banana too, does that negate any of it?

OP posts:
LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 07/02/2011 14:27

I compared the 'light' version in Co-op. Only 10 calories difference, I couldn't believe it! Shock

Were they delicious though, OP? That's the main thing. Grin

BuzzLightBeer · 07/02/2011 14:28

oh they were lovely. I even let the children share the remaining ones, selfless parent that I am. Grin

OMG I love HCB's. I wish you hadn't mentioned them.

I ate my own bodyweight rather too many mince pies at Christmas, and now it's hot cross bun season..where will it all end?? Me in the next dress size up probablyHmm

compo · 07/02/2011 14:32

Ha ha , the banana is yet more calories Grin
did you have breakfast and lunch?

BuzzLightBeer · 07/02/2011 14:35

I had stewed around breakfast time, and then lots of hot cross buns and then a banana and more hcb's a while ago.
But I'm still a bit peckish Blush

Seriously though, I think I'm a bread addict.

BuzzLightBeer · 07/02/2011 14:35

Me too... I keep thinking that I have to reduce my carbs. I find that if I lay off them, I don't crave them but if I eat them, I want endless amounts of them. I must be intolerant of them.... or perhaps too tolerant of them... Confused

RamblingRosa · 07/02/2011 14:41

I had 4 on Saturday if it makes you feel any better. Not light choice either. Wholemeal though if that makes it any better Hmm

KurriKurri · 07/02/2011 14:44

I love a hot cross bun or two (or three) but (old gimmer rant alert) why are they on sale now? - it's nowhere near Good Friday, having these things all year round spoils their specialness, - I remember really looking forward to them because they were a once a year thing. Now you can get them any old time. I know I'm an old fart, but I don't care.

Glad you enjoyed your buns Grin

BuzzLightBeer · 07/02/2011 14:46

I as glad they were there as my local tesco has stopped doing crumpets and muffins, I am bereft without them. Not to mention I haven't seen a pikelet in a decade!

I really do have a ^morning goods" (as my mother called them) ishooooo!
