to wonder why a person cannot have a moan on MN

without dozens of posters saying, "Oh, what are you complaining about. At least you have a dog/husband/house/MIL to look after the kids..."

Yes, this is a thread about a thread, but it is also something that I have noticed often on MN.

Is it basic human nature or something that is common on fora such as MN?

Sometimes a poster wants to complain, or has a small problem. Of course they are thankful that they don't have worse problems but there is no need to jump on them and berate them to get a life/grip.

Ok. Rant over. Everyone have some Wine

"Bibbity you are right there has been a lot of moaning and also a thread about another thread seems to be quite popular too."

True.

Which is what I have just done. :o Sorry.

I wonder if it is that there is a general sense of doom and gloom in UK at the moment. Or the long hard winter making folk grumpy.

CHEEKY - just for you linky

Beamur · 06/02/2011 21:44

Come spring we'll all be cheerful and lovely to each other.

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 21:44

FWIW I've only been posting on MN for 3/4 weeks, but I think there are some real bullies on MN.

One can tell by their posts that they're not very intelligent, and the only way they can 'converse' is by attacking and bullying. There's a lot of shockingly unwarranted abuse hurled about.

I'm sure I'll be flamed now, for saying what I think - it doesn't take much to trigger a flaming.

bibbitybobbityhat · 06/02/2011 21:47

I am desperate for one sunny day. Just one, please thank you.

I am pleased to report that I have had two days of my awful "change of weather" headaches (not moaning, promise Grin) which usually accompany a significant change in the atmospheric pressure, so hopefully we all have some more cheerful days just around the corner.

MmeLindt · 06/02/2011 22:00

We have had glorious weather for the past few days, and is forecast to continue this week. Will endeavor to send some over to UK.

I think that MN has always been a website where posters pride themselves on being straight-talking, but it has gotten slightly out of hand in recent months, imo. I don't know that I would call it bullying, but certainly there are plenty of unpleasant posts.

penelopestitsdropped · 06/02/2011 22:00

gorgeousx - agreed. Just lately we seem to have attracted a lot fo rather ignorant and yet vocal posters.

A fair few seem to have invaded from another site and stayed. I assume others arrived following the latest media hype.

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 22:10

Penelopetits I'm heartened to hear that - because I'm new myself on here, I thought it was always like that.

I joined just before 'Riven' and thought MN was brilliant - I loved it, but the last week or so has been really awful, just seemingly, endless hostile posts all over the place - in all different topics. Sad

Sorry - should have said Penelope and Mdm Lindt

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 22:17

Thank you BeerTricks! - Feel so much better now - just for your one little acknowledgement.

It's very true what other poster said about the feeling of anonymity; I think a lot of people see it as license to be hostile.

I don't think one can underestimate the power of the written word in a post - it can sum up the same emotions as if you were sitting/standing talking with someone.

That's why it can be so uplifting just to hear a simple post like that - someone saying they enjoy your posts!

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 22:18

Sorry, Beertricks - just realised it was you that said it!

NellieForbush · 06/02/2011 22:25

I agree about the bullying gorgeousx. One nasty post is swiftly followed by several of the same and a little 'gang' forms.

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 22:32

Nellie that's right; and do you think that sometimes 'they' are the one poster, but with different names, or am I being paranoid now?

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 22:34

well if you're not paranoid Gorgeous you will be called it swiftly Wink

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 22:39

Or not - if you are me LOL!!

NellieForbush · 06/02/2011 22:39

lol! You are paranoid! Only because I have seen these posters names around for years. (Unless they've been multiple posters for years?!)

But I can see how it would look like that. However I think its just classic bullying. The stronger one starts and a few other idiots just copy. Thats why the posts can all sound the same.

reelingintheyears · 06/02/2011 22:43

Am i wrong......
This is not like Chipping...

You alright Duckie?

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 22:51

Nellie I'm glad to hear that actually. At least it's 'real' then.

2shoes · 06/02/2011 22:54

so you start a thread about a thread, then moan about people being unpleasant. ok

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 22:57

here we go.....

GORGEOUSX · 06/02/2011 23:01

Dobiegirl I AGREE WITH YOU Wink
