To still laugh about this seven years on?

Was driving my ten year son (was his birthday) and two friends plus my two girls out for the day in our notoriously bad-tempered town. Pulled up at a roundabout heading towards a dual-carriageway with a hard shoulder on either side of the lane iyswim, as there was traffic coming around the roundabout.

One of vehicles coming around the roundabout was a soft-sided large van with the tarps flapping. As it went around the roundabout a tad too fast, an entire close-coupled lavatory fell out of the flapping side and smashed all over the roundabout.

This was surreal enough, but as I lingered a fraction too long, and put on my hazard lights, impatient lady behind be pulled angrily out from behind and screeched past, straight over the still tumbling shards of ceramic, puncturing three of her (4) tyres.

AIBU to have laughed all the way to Birdworld, and to still be laughing about it now? It made my son's day, I can tell you.

NonnoMum · 02/02/2011 20:22

You're just taking the piss... (or other toilet-based jokes)

duchesse · 02/02/2011 20:25

I know Nonno- we had jokes about for weeks afterwards.

bupcakesandcunting · 02/02/2011 20:29

YANBU funny when twats get their just desserts ;)

duchesse · 02/02/2011 20:29

You can't even claim on the insurance for tyres, can you? Was trying to imagine the insurance staff laughing their heads off if she had tried to claim.

Excellent - that's made by day! (I bet her's went down the pan!!!)

ENormaSnob · 02/02/2011 20:47

You'd be well up shit creek with 3 flats.

mumbar · 02/02/2011 20:57

bupcakesandcunting · 02/02/2011 21:53

Would you like some gin, m'dear?

anonymosity · 02/02/2011 21:55

No matter how stupid the woman - her tires blowing all at the same time was immensely dangerous for her, you, your passengers and anyone else on the road. I always think its really nasty to laugh in these kinds of circs, sorry.

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 02/02/2011 21:58

Hope it teaches her an important lesson!

duchesse · 02/02/2011 21:58

Oh, she'd already gone past me (I was stationary) and since was doing under 20mph (from standing still to middle of roundabout twenty metres ahead) her car stopped the moment all her tyres went down and she was fine too. I wouldn't be laughing if she'd died.

girliefriend · 02/02/2011 21:59

I'm laughing but then I am really nasty Hmm

MCos · 02/02/2011 22:00

YANBU - and thanks for the laugh! That is too funny to ever forget..

Zingylemontart · 02/02/2011 22:24

YADNBU to laugh even now. Did you see her face afterwards? Was she a bit flushed? Smile

duchesse · 02/02/2011 22:26

There was a visible "thunk" of understanding as she slowed to a halt- suddenly it was clear why I'd stopped and put on my hazard lights.

I couldn't help wondering how far beyond her MPV bonnet she was in the habit of looking usually...

MangoTango · 02/02/2011 22:35

Oh crap. She must have been a wee bit pissed off. Maybe she had had a shit day and was feeling pooped and so pooh poohed the idea of slowing down. It certainly must have taken the wind out of her sails.

StealthPolarBear · 02/02/2011 22:38

bet she wasn't so flush after paying for 3 new tyres

duchesse · 02/02/2011 22:38

It's a sometimes shame you can't "like" comments on MN. You potty-mouthed lot, you.
