To want to stage a protest on Mumsnet to let us have one thread were we all can network and promte our businesses? Smile

I know this is against the rules so who is with me?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:16

5, 4, 3, 2...

Grin

a networking area would be fantastic, actually.

MardyBra · 02/02/2011 17:17

It's a great idea. Did the other thread get pulled btw?

rolandweary · 02/02/2011 17:18

you can promote your business, just pay the fee and start a thread

MN is a parenting community though. I personally think we have enough advertising already.

MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:18

What happended to the last thread? did it get pulled?

OP posts:
MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:19

but my business would help parents, couples and lone / single people. So it would be very relivant.

OP posts:
HarrietSchulenberg · 02/02/2011 17:21

Yes but you'd make personal gain from it and you've just cited a very wide group of people there. I'm sure just about any business could find a way to argue a benefit to any of that group.
This is a parenting FORUM not a directory.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:23

I think an area for those of us who have our own businesses would be a great idea. We could network and exchange ideas, get advice, exchange thoughts. It would be fab.

ChaoticAngelofAnarchy · 02/02/2011 17:26

I agree with rolandweary and HarrietSchulenberg

MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:28

Exactly HecateQueenOfWitches - we are indeed on the same hymm sheet.

I think we could really help each other out. Offer advice like, tax, marketing and even promoting each others services. Why would this be so wrong?

OP posts:
MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:29

The first person to post their link to their website gets a full pack of jammy dodgers from me (Yes i am a chicken shit to do it first)

OP posts:
MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:30

so what if you get personal gain from it. Everyone gets personal gain from advice given freely on this site. Its just in different forms.

OP posts:
HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:31

It wouldn't be wrong. It would be very useful.

I know I would love an area where I could chat with other small business people. The information you exchange is invaluable. Having a problem and someone says oh yes, my business ran into that, this is what we did...

Laughing about the things we all face Grin Nobody understands like someone who's gone through it as well!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:32

Oh no. I'm not playing 'I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours' Grin

rolandweary · 02/02/2011 17:33

Are there no web communities/chat forums for small business owners then?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:33

And of course, the benefit of showing people that you can be parents and run businesses as well!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:34
Blush

I never knew that!!!

That's what I'm talkin' about! Grin

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:34

See you over there, MrSpoc? Grin

rolandweary · 02/02/2011 17:35

I don't think you are supposed to promote your business there though - there is a section (and a fee) for that

MardyBra · 02/02/2011 17:35

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/freelancers/1075073-do-you-run-your-own-business-work-for-yourself-Mind-me-being-nosy

Look Hecate I even found the thread for you...

MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:35

HecteQueenOfWitches what made you make the leap?

OP posts:
HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:36

Blush fabulous.

I can't believe I didn't know that was there! I blame the gazillion topics there are on here!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/02/2011 17:36

What made me make the leap into running my own business?

MardyBra · 02/02/2011 17:36

Although I notice "joinavon" keeps having their messages deleted!

MrSpoc · 02/02/2011 17:38

Come on Rowlandweary stop beeing a kill joy with your and there is a fee to pay it only goes in other peoples pockets.
