to think that Off The Beaten Track was a mistake

this isn't a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a topic, and some of the threads in it

so hopefully not bad form

I think it was amistake - it seems to be used for all the wrong reasons. For example the shiney crew feeling they ought to post on there because people were complaining about them being a clique - that seems wrong to me, MN is public and nobody should feel they have to retire to a private area. And the BoM thread which is full of personal attacks and insults - people seem to retire onto that thread to make the sort of remarks they wouldn't make on the main boards

I think it should be got rid of. What does everyone else think?

All this nastiness is sounding like the very threads you're upset about! Not good ladies-or chaps if lurking! :(

DirtyMartini · 28/01/2011 22:05

I'm so fucking confused. How did this go from being a civilized discussion about OTBT to a bunfight about these BoM people? (I am assuming the slightly bonkers-sounding PegsAuChocolat is one of 'em too)

They do seem to be taking it all awfully personally, flouncing etc Hmm

LadyTremaine · 28/01/2011 22:05

oooh the C word...

bibbitybobbityhat · 28/01/2011 22:05

Bye then.

Aitch · 28/01/2011 22:07

gosh, what's going on here? i didn't even know about otbt for yonks, far less go there (how does one find it?)

however, i do wish that the gang threads would ALL use it, tbh, as i think that it would encourage people to post about fun stuff on the main boards again. what used to go into chat as an OP is now 'wasted' on chat in the gang threads, iykwim? but i wonder if a desire to reach a wider audience would tempt them back out? i am thinking, i suppose, that i feel like i've seen more of BoF on the rest of the boards since the shiney crew went into purdah. (arf Wink)

it's just more fun when everyone gets to join in... but maybe MN is too big for that any more?

MrsNonSmoker · 28/01/2011 22:07

That was really confusing, was just skimming the BoM thread on OTBT and Mumsnet deleted it. I couldn't understand a bloody word to be honest. Clearly I'm not made of the right stuff. Whatever that might be Grin

MummieHunnie · 28/01/2011 22:08

BOM thread has been deleted by the despirate posters on there, I have read it!

usualsuspect · 28/01/2011 22:08

I don't care about your Stepkids or bonus kids or whatever you call them ...just don't bitch about other posters where anyone can read it

^^^ up there use PM if you must

DamselInDisguise · 28/01/2011 22:08

DirtyMartini: I doubt this was ever intended to be about OTBT at all.

DirtyMartini · 28/01/2011 22:08

Gah. If you're staying, just bloody stay, woman, and stop pretending you're leaving.

If you're leaving, then sticking your head back in to say teenagery things like "ooh, the C word" does tend to diminish the power of a dramatic exit.

LadyTremaine · 28/01/2011 22:08

It's what happens when youre pushed to the brink of despair, having your money, time, relationship, parenting controlled by a women you ordinarily wouldn't give the time give the time of day. Turns you a bit loopy.

It's basically like being bullied in your own home day and night.

Aitch · 28/01/2011 22:09

gah! Grin too late.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/01/2011 22:09

fuckity fuck fuck. I clicked to read the last effing page and it had been deleted.

MummieHunnie · 28/01/2011 22:11

I'mnot so much making a dramatic exit as a slow tipsy insulting one.. just for your information.

GypsyMoth · 28/01/2011 22:12

think you need to learn to deal with this woman lady. she might respect you more if you stand up for yourself

LadyTremaine · 28/01/2011 22:12

Oh MH.. took your head out of the pop pshyc book then..?

I wasn't emotionaly abusive until today!

GypsyMoth · 28/01/2011 22:12

aqnd your bonus dc might do too!!!

thatsnotmymonkey · 28/01/2011 22:13

bum bum bum, I missed it!!

DirtyMartini · 28/01/2011 22:13

OK, I only read a page or two of the BoM thread before attending to important "decanting of ice cream into bowl" affairs, and therefore I am not clear on exactly what you (LT) or anyone else said. Amazingly, I wasn't interested enough to peruse all the gory details.

Am just in agreement, on principle, with the idea that it is wrong to slag other posters off & be hostile to them, regardless of what topic your thread is in.

LadyTremaine · 28/01/2011 22:14

You can't stand up for yourslef in this situation because you tread a fine line where at any point she can convince the poor child at the centre of it all that you are a money grabbing/ husband stealing/ child hating whore...
