.....for drinking well over a bottle wine when left in charge of the 3 DC over night?
It was the first time since DC3 was born and 2nd time ever being left with them.
Obviously I'm not impressed, but who is being unreasonable?

I think the driving thing is a non-issue, unless you think that non-drivers shouldn't have children.

you need to talk to him some more, OP

Dansmom - good point :o

I'm always a but mystified by that argument myself.

Good to not drink too much, but weird if the reason is so you can drive.

OP, you sound generally concerned about his drinking. Talk to him about it.

And just because he's sober doesn't mean he will be easy to rouse to deal with children :o

OP, I'm beginning to think my DP is leading a double life round your house. He has "cut back" significantly since DS was born (we used to live opposite a pub and he would be in there every night, hungover every morning) but once he gets started, he can't stop himself and will even resort to drinking the marsala wine we keep for cooking if the minimarket that is open until 12 is closed and he's on one of his benders.

First time he looked after DS on his own at 4mo, he had drunk 2 large cans stella and bottle of wine. Needless to say I ended up having to do the feed as he was too wasted to wake up and change him etc.

YANBU - if he's had enough to give himself a hangover, then he's had too much to be capable of dealing with childcare. You wouldn't be happy if you paid a babysitter and s/he drank that much, would you?!
