To report two infant age children walking to school alone

... to the head of the school.

This morning I saw two siblings (I assume) walking to school alone, the oldest looked about yr2 at the most and the youngest a reception child. I wanted to phone the school as there could be a number of reasons these children are walking alone, not all sinister but in my mind none good enough,. This is Bristol, a busy city, not the place to allow children to cross roads and negotiate traffic and people at the age of 6 or below, surely.

ah, it becomes clearer. It was that type of school was it? HT is busy.

Okey-dokey. Hmm

Buzz.....smart? lmao. IF the only thing that has ever been risky in the children's lives is a walk to school then I can't think the SS are going to put them in a home, I know smack heads that make their dcs sleep in urine that keep their children.

And stop saying I don't know how old they are, I have children and am able to judge a child's age.

No moral outrage, just concern, perhaps the forefront of my mind is a friend dying of lung cancer that still walks her children to school everyday....

See, MN twattery at it's finest.

We do have rough schools you know, it's sad but true.

OP posts:
ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:05

Hmm but those busy social workers....

OP posts:
BuzzLightBeer · 25/01/2011 16:06

You do not know how old they are, in that you do not, in fact, know how old they are. If I am wrong, please do tell us exactly how old they are.

And dying friend? What the fuckity are you going on about? Hmm

Still waiting by the way, for an explanation of how being disabled enough to not be able to walk 1.5miles because you are disabled makes you lazy and/or neglectful?

Saw this earlier... can't believe the stick you are getting OP.

You did the right thing IMO.

Buzz - actually, don't be upset, because you have just nicely illustrated a point. Going on the scant information you offered, Posie decided confidently that your mother was lazy or negligent....but what she didn't bargain for, was the revelation that your mum, was in fact, disabled.

So there she does it again - judges with total conviction on a situation she knows nothing about. Just like this morning.

Posie - I hope you take a little something from this. Parenting is hard enough without having to wrestle past sanctimonious, ill informed stickybeaks such as yourself, pecking about our business like flustered chickens.

It's not your job to sit on the other hens' eggs ok?

Or a cock like you? Still buzz did say 'I fucking dare you to say my mother was blah blah blah...'

LOl@ this thread ...op yabu I'm astounded that someone would call SS because 2 kids were walking to school alone

Only on MN Grin

GypsyMoth · 25/01/2011 16:08

The parents judged they were ok posie....... This really wasn't your call. Really, it wasn't.

Did you give a name or address?

What did you expect anyone to do? Seriously, there is nothing anyone can do.

All these 'dangers' people see on every corner, snd just because it's 'Bristol'.......and?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 25/01/2011 16:08

The phrase sledgehammer to crack a nut springs to mind

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:08

Buzz....you said 'I dare you...' I couldn't give a crap about you or your mother, you brought it up.

alt,,,,I have literally no idea what you're talking about.

Hmm OP was concerned for the childrens welfare. She phoned the people that deal with childrens welfare. Fail to see why it's caused such an outrage. I'm outraged at people that turn a blind eye.

Rubbish.

You judge the area to be inferior, and you assumed that the parents are lazy and negligent. You wanted to flap your gums at someone and feel important for an hour, because you disapprove and you're bored.

The fact that you got no answer from the school, so then went straight onto calling Social Services instead says it all.

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:10

Can people please read th thread.....I couldn't get through to SS, I phoned to ask advice they advised that I report it to them NOT the school. I am not a SW/HT or HV and so I called the people that I thought could help.

OP posts:
BuzzLightBeer · 25/01/2011 16:10

unsurprisingly you have no real answer. Keep going, you're looking more ridiculous by the minute.

clevercloggs · 25/01/2011 16:11

i think OP was right too

if only more people interfered, there would be less unhappy kids left to fend for themselves

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 25/01/2011 16:12
FanellaFidge · 25/01/2011 16:12

"The parents judged they were ok posie"

Some parents judge that it's OK to not bathe or wash their children for weeks on end. Some judge it's OK to not feed their children properly. Some judge it's ok to take heroin in front of their children. Some parents even judge that's it's OK to harm, or sometime kill their children.

Social Services exist becomes sometimes parents can't judge whats OK for their children.

usualsuspect · 25/01/2011 16:12

Oh just read it was a rough school well what do you expect really, did the kids have a staffy with them Wink

mamatomany · 25/01/2011 16:13

So out of interest what did you say ? Were you able to identify the children or are all parents going to get a telling off letter at that school in tonight's book bags ?
