I don't mean the people who pop in once in a while for a coffee.

I am talking about the same mums i see EVERY day after ive taken dd to school on my way to ds nursery, they are there first thing, i drop him off walk back past to go to the shops and they are still there. Then when i walk past again to go home-STILL THERE! every weekday, they sit in the window seats, their toddlers run about whilst people dodge them with hot drinks and once one of them even changed her baby's nappy on the chair.

Maybe this is just jealousy as iam quite partial to a coffee and muffin!I couldnt afford it once a month let alone every day, but really they must spend a fortune and they seem to have completely taken over in there every day.Still, it really annoys me do they really have nothing better to do every single day???

Ha ha punka! Cat as in the poster called Igetmorelovefrommycat!

Even if they are outside, if their kids are with them I think it isnt good to be smoking around them but hey ho that's just my feeling!

One cup allowed then off home to watch jezza do the cleaning I say

frgr · 18/01/2011 23:26

I also agree that smoking cats is disgusting and wrong too.

For the record.

Grin
igetmorelovefromthecat · 18/01/2011 23:26

No I agree, MsKlo. I smoked until two years ago but I always did it away from my DD. It's easy enough to do.

MsKLo · 18/01/2011 23:27

It's just a shame that every soft play place does shit coffee...
Maybe MN should set up soft play places nationwide!

igetmorelovefromthecat · 18/01/2011 23:27

Oooh usualsuspect...I thought I was the only one on mn who watches Jezza.

I try not to make too much of a habit of it.

Booandpops · 18/01/2011 23:28

I sometimes meet my friends in John Lewis for coffee and scone. Hmmmmm. It's a treat every 4 weeks or so bt couldn't do it every day!

  1. I'd be even more overweight than I already am
  2. Couldn't afford it
  3. What would you talk about
  4. I have other things I need/want to do with my life
  5. Ds would be bored stiffless

Loons!!!!

ariane5 · 18/01/2011 23:28

I just can't see how they can spend hours every day in there?!

For a start its really expensive but assuming they are well off then obviously theres not a limit but i couldnt afford the amount they clearly get through!
It cant be much fun for the children (who largely seem unsupervised and dodging hot drinks whilst running about)

Each to their own though Smile

Who is jezza? Confused

igetmorelovefromthecat · 18/01/2011 23:30

I dunno, my local soft play does the best hot choccy ever. With cream and sprinkles and everything. It's the shiznay.

Not a coffee drinker so I couldn't comment on what their coffee is like.

igetmorelovefromthecat · 18/01/2011 23:30

Jeremy Kyle {blush}

igetmorelovefromthecat · 18/01/2011 23:30

Blush even

MsKLo · 18/01/2011 23:31

Ariane

You are fully entitled to be judgypants if you want! We all do it about something and yes, of course people can say what's it to do with you but we can say that about lots of things!

I feel sorry for the toddlers it isn't fair on them

beanlet · 18/01/2011 23:32

YANBU, but only because it's Starbucks .

I'm in Caffe Nero all the time with my bairn, but that's because he will actually go to sleep in the pram, bless him, and I can then do some work on my laptop.

GreenEyesandHam · 18/01/2011 23:33

You seem unduly worried about their finances Hmm

I hate Starbucks. And I work. But if I didn't, and I wanted to spend an hour or so every morning in there, it wouldn't occur to me that some randomer walking past would be fretting about it

MsKLo · 18/01/2011 23:33

Nooooooo! Not Jeremy Kyle! Oh god

Oh dear
Oh no
It's shite though??

Im the first to admit theres a fair bit of jealousy involved at the sight of happy mums drinking nice hot drinks and eating cakes when i drag myself past in the cold every day getting on with my shit life !

OP posts:
igetmorelovefromthecat · 18/01/2011 23:35

Course it is. But also light entertainment. I can't watch it that often though, my brain would rot I think.

MsKLo · 18/01/2011 23:35

Aiiii beanlet it is shite coffee! But it's ok when baby is small but poor toddlers need to play!

MsKLo · 18/01/2011 23:37

Lol cat!
I like a bit of oprah or Matthew wright but can't stand this morning with smug Phil scholfield...

magicmummy1 · 18/01/2011 23:38

Ah, so you're jealous of them. That explains the concern.

But really, wouldn't it get quite boring if your entire life consisted of sitting in Starbucks? It might look quite cosy, but I imagine that the novelty would pretty soon wear thin.

lololizzy · 18/01/2011 23:38

yanbu. Why would anyone want to go EVERY day?

Morloth · 18/01/2011 23:40

LOL, why do you care?

Before I had DS2 I was very much a coffee shop mummy, I would drop DS1 at school, go to the gym then meet friends at the cafe for hours. We really didn't have anything better to do, because getting together and chatting was fucking fantastic.

Once DS2 was on the scene the gym went out the window and the cafe time was cut down to just prior to the afternoon school run, but I still spent a lot of time sipping lattes and chatting.

It is excellent, I have spotted my new cafe close to DS1's school, can't wait for the school term to start again, DS2 and I will be there with all the other yuppies, or I might take a book while he frolics in their little play area...

It is hard being me I tell you, hard. Wink
