To want to throw my cat at people...

Confuzzeled · 18/01/2011 17:44

When people come to visit and my cat starts cuddling up next to me I get an urge to pick her up and fling her.

When teenagers are walking in front of me, I always get an urge to kick one of them in the heels so they trip up.

If I'm out having a drink with someone my mind just ignores what they're saying and I feel like throwing their drink all over them.

But mostly it's throwing my cat. I love my cat, she's very sweet and affectionate, but I have to hold back the urge to throw her at my dh every evening.

Tell me I'm not alone, strange and mildly violent urges can't just be restricted to me.

My cat is old, blind and senile and wanders around the house meowing loudly and constantly day and night for no apparent reason. I am forever resisting the urge to launch him out of the back door on the end of my foot! Grin

Hoping he might do the decent thing and pop off soon. Wink

unhappyshopper · 18/01/2011 17:49

Have you ever put a cat in a bin??? Hmm

Confuzzeled · 18/01/2011 17:51

I don't really think it's about my cat, I think it's more the action of doing something naughty I like.

I always want to kick chickens. I never would, but my feet get a little itchy.

ThistleDoNicely · 18/01/2011 17:52

I get strange urges towards my husband. Not in a bad way, just like sometimes I get a really strong urge to stick my finger up his nose or something and have to tell myself not to. One time (a few years ago, when we were students and before we were married) I had a lighter in my hand and had this strong urge to singe the dressing gown he was wearing - a big blue flame licked right up his side and gave us both a bit of a fright! There was no harm done but I've been very careful since then.

I also drive across the Forth Road Bridge to and from work every day and often have a strong urge just to swing the steering wheel and drive the car right off the side. Have to focus on looking ahead and not over at the water.

I've never wanted to throw my cat at anyone though, maybe that'll develop now the idea is in my head! Grin

LaWeaselMys · 18/01/2011 17:52

Well. I have thought like this before, though not now. I wasn't very happy at the time though (not depressed or anything, just stressed and struggling)

So I'm not sure if YABU or not!

missismonky · 18/01/2011 17:52

If I'm sitting at a round table I have the urge to dramatically tip it over, like cowboys do in the movies when a huge fight is about to erupt.

My parents have just such a table in their kitchenGrin

AtYourCervix · 18/01/2011 17:52

i felt the same for the 14 years of having either a child,a cat or a dog on my lap every single time i tried to sit down.

thankfully even DD2 is too big for a lap now.

a while back someone asked if anyone else had 'urges'. i think you are having some Grin

GelflinGirl · 18/01/2011 17:53

YABU and very strange........... Im affraid i think your alone!

Did make me laugh though Grin

unhappyshopper · 18/01/2011 17:54

good job you didnt post that last week... you would have been told you should have been prosecuted for attempted murder! Wink

dannyblanchflower · 18/01/2011 17:56

I have an urge to open car doors if I sit in the back of a car - never wanted to throw my cat though...yet!

GelflinGirl · 18/01/2011 17:56

maybe not so alone....... Confused Grin

Deciduousblonde · 18/01/2011 17:59

I don't think you are alone.

Psychotic thoughts are more commonplace than you think Grin

ThistleDoNicely · 18/01/2011 18:00

Well, he didn't seem to mind too much and forgave me enough to marry me four years later.
Sometimes when I get an urge (weird ones like putting a finger in his ear or licking his face) I'll mutter to myself 'no, Thistle' and he'll laugh and say 'no Thistle indeed - what are you no Thistling at?'.

Confuzzeled · 18/01/2011 18:01

Yaaaaaay, I'm not alone.

Totally feeling the chicken kicking, obviously never would.

Also used to walk across Forth Road bridge quite often and always felt like doing the titanic thing on the sticky out bits.

I always want to shove my Mum : o

jendifa · 18/01/2011 18:18

Not alone.

I often consider throwing my drink at people, or hang up on them mid conversation.

I wouldn't ever do it!

Pan · 18/01/2011 18:26

I sometimes have the urge to write a load of old bollocks on the internet. But usually manage to resist.....

PeeringIntoTheWintryVoid · 18/01/2011 18:33

I disapprove utterly of cruelty to animals... but this
"But mostly it's throwing my cat. I love my cat, she's very sweet and affectionate, but I have to hold back the urge to throw her at my dh every evening." made me giggle uncontrollably. Grin Grin

This is a great thread.

Psammead · 18/01/2011 18:41

I get an urge to really yell when I am bored.

Sometimes get an urge to bite. I almost never do though!

nannynobnobs · 18/01/2011 18:41

I toss the cat gently at DH sometimes- she is a psychotic bag of razorblades so I do it for my own entertainment. I know what you mean about urges though, like having the urge to shout "FUCKSTICKS!" round my grandparents' house. Why would I think that?!

AgentZigzag · 18/01/2011 19:03

I used to do quite a bit of cycling, and when I was going past someone bending over (surprisingly often when you're kind of watching out for them) I wanted to give them a boot and cycle off at top speed laughing manically.

I still get the urge now when I'm walking, but I wouldn't be able to make such a quick getaway with the pushchair Grin

I'm glad I'm not alone as well.

molemesseskilledIpom · 18/01/2011 19:23

I get an urge to open up the car door if I see a cyclist riding by really fast.

I get an urge to slap anyone who comes to my house unexpected.

I get an urge to answer the door to Bible Bashers wearing a blood stained apron, wild haired, with a large blood stained knife in my hand and tell them I am a devil worshiper.

And one I would love to try, is to get hold of a load of stickers saying Jesus Loves You and hand those out instead of sweet during Trick or Treat.

I guess it's not pre-thought about stuff, it's just the urges you get sometimes.

Like feeling the urge to shout in a cathedral, or push the red button.

I watched my son 17mo take a bite out a banana earlier then throw it at his sister, for no reason, other than he probably just felt like it.
