To name change again!!!! reasons for doing so

I have been a member on mumsnet since 2002 and I have just changed names for the hundrenth time.

Normally it's because I have posted too much infomation on myself and do not want to run the risk of being found out in RL.

I wondered if other people frequently name change or prefer to stay the same to build up an online persona.

I obviously know lots of names from over the years but no-one will know who I am.

WOOHOO I have namechanged, sorry feeling clever because I figured it out all by myself.

I name change every few months when a new name pops in to my head

nickelbabysnatcher · 11/01/2011 12:35

nickelbabysnatcher · 11/01/2011 12:35

Hully meh.

SwearyMary · 11/01/2011 12:35

Do you want my Eleanor too?

Her school is still closed, and I'm a bit bored of her now.

nickelbabysnatcher · 11/01/2011 12:36

okay!
is she cute?

send her over.

I name change for when I want to post personal and highly identifying stuff (IF anyone on here actually knew me in RL, which I don't think they do - but also sometimes it's about other family members and someone might recognise them).

I have namechanged for fun a couple of times - and been called troll (of course Hmm)

And usually have some seasonal variation, but like to keep my name recognisable. Been here for nearly 3y now, so there are people who do recognise me (not many, I'm sure, but there are some!)

Hully - you have an armoire? Ooo, I am Envy. How many babies fit in an armoire then?

I don't like it when people namechange too much - I lose them and then they talk to me like an old friend and I don't know who they aaaaarrrrrre... Confused

I'll just have to find a box big enough. Grin

SwearyMary · 11/01/2011 12:38

I don't have an Eleanor but I do have DD and I have a box big enough [devil]

AbsofCroissant · 11/01/2011 12:42

I have done two big name changes
1st time - Because I posted a stupidly embarassing thread when drunk (in hindsight, it wasn't that bad) and wanted to NOT be identified with it
2nd time - I thought up this new name, and decided it was muchos better than the old one.

Now, this name has started to feel a part of me. Yesterday, I was looking at the exercise schedule at the gym (and mostly thinking "an HOUR of Body Pump?! Are you CRAZY?! I'm not doing that") and kept on seeing "Abs" and thought it was addressed to me. It's quite odd.

But then, max 10 people in RL know I'm on MN and only (possibly) DP knows my username. I say possibly - I've never told him, but he started being very well behaved after some whining by me about him on MN.

sounds a bit like my niece at christmas - she wanted to use a box as a boat, then it got ripped and she was sooo upset - her dad thought it was because she didn't want to be in the box (we were pulling her around the room), but as soon as we taped it up, she was happy again! Grin
